Read on for my thoughts on Tamed By The Outlaw. No true spoilers, promise.
It had all started a year ago at a romance writers conference, in fact, this same romance conference. One night of the most mind blowing sexual encounter of her life, one night of feeling she was exactly where she belonged for the rest of her life, one morning of waking up alone and dumped.
And then one year of making reckless decisions, taking life altering chances. One year that bled back into being here again – and seeing Grayson.
Jessie wrote sexy love stories. Okay, so this last year the hero was based on a real life experience. And maybe the love and happy endings were her wish for them as well as her audience. But they sold like water in a desert, her readers couldn’t get their hands on her novels fast enough. None of them knew that now Jessie was writing from the heart and from memory. Her anger at Grayson’s deception was so great that if she could have boiled him in oil she’d have bought the cauldron. Anger was one thing, hurt was another. It was the hurt that made her take foolish chances in a desperate need to wipe his touch from her memory. It wasn’t working.
Jessie James. The main reason that he was at this circus of a conference. Yes, they had a personal history, or at least a one night stand history. And she’d proven just how little that one night had meant to her by not being in the room when he’d returned with breakfast the next morning. Grayson refused to acknowledge that Jessie’s dismissal of their night had any part in his decision to sell off the romance division of his publishing company. That was business. He’d wanted a different direction for the company once he had taken the reins from his grandfather’s hands. Romance was for fools and people who believed in knights on white chargers, damsels in distress and ‘they lived happily ever after’ nonsense. It was completely beside the point that the romance division had high sales and even higher profits. It was not the backbone of his company, and he intended for it to be gone forever.
He just had to relay that to Jessie and get her to sign a contract with his biggest competitor – without her realizing that she was the cement to that deal. He had to think business only and put the memory of her in the past.
Tamed By The Outlaw is a delightful tale of misunderstanding. misguided decisions and just perhaps another chance at a happy ending. Grayson and Jessie are two hot characters who will burn up the pages of this funny, occasionally tear evoking and definitely in need of some anger management lessons joy of a story. When people get hurt they do stupid things, make dumb decisions and say the wrong things to the right people. These two had that in spades. It was fun and entertaining to watch them stumble over their attraction, work their way through the missed signals and come together only to be ripped apart by one stupid decision. Did Grayson finally “get it”? You’ll have to read the story to know for certain. But you will enjoy the time spent with this couple who need to be together – if only they can get their emotions straight.
*I received an e-ARC of Tamed By The Outlaw from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
