Cover Description:
Olivia Bennett is not having a happy birthday. Instead of blowing out her twenty-nine candles, she’s stuck in jail, caught red-handed in a graffiti incident that (perhaps) involved one too many strawberry margaritas.Worst idea ever. The only bright side is that she ended up in the strong arms of the most gorgeous lawman she’s ever seen.
Pete Sampson (aka Deputy Hot Stuff) faces intense pressure from the sheriff to find out who’s behind a string of vandalisms. And after her spray-painting spree, Olivia is suspect number one. Still, Pete can’t stop thinking about her. Wanting her. Now he’s torn between his duty and his overpowering desire for the vivacious waitress. But he may have to bend the rules because true love is more important than the letter of the law.
Read on for my thoughts on Ever After. No true spoilers, promise.
Most people don’t expect to meet the one they’ll love for a lifetime while being busted for spraying graffiti on a chicken factory. Olivia might have had a bit too much to drink celebrating her birthday, and she might have gotten the brilliant idea from her fuzzy, drunken mind… but hey, this was an important cause. Just because the chickens were going to be food didn’t mean they could be treated cruelly. But being caught by the adorable deputy could have made up for being tossed in jail, if only he didn’t find her so amusing. But Olivia sucked it up, did her time, made restitution and continued her battle for better conditions for the factory chickens.
Pete really shouldn’t have found this particular criminal so cute and drunkenly adorable. She was breaking the law and he was too close to a promotion to get involved with her. But damn, she was adorable. When Olivia becomes the target of vandalism and is threatened, Pete will do anything to protect this woman who is becoming so important to him.
Ever After is a charming, witty and fun story of love and choices. Pet and Olivia worked well as a couple, and while maybe I didn’t need all the chicken factory details (I may become a red meat person for awhile) their story was feisty, sexy and simply adorable. Love usually comes along when we least expect it and Olivia and Pete were simply right for each other.
I would recommend this for readers who love animals, enjoy quirky and adorable characters or simply enjoy a really good love story.
*I received an e-ARC of Ever After from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
