Cover Description:

Cursed to live forever with neither wife nor child, Ronan Sutherland has watched all he cherishes turn to dust—more than once. For hundreds of years, he’s been trapped behind the mists of Loch Ness, hoping to identify the one woman who is prophesied to break the spell. Now, at last, the fates have aligned, and he’s being sent into the future to fetch her. After a single glimpse, Ronan knows he’s been waiting all his life for this passionate woman.

Unlike her time-traveling sisters, Mairi Sinclair is perfectly content to remain in the present. As a hospital nurse in Edinburgh, she cherishes the opportunity to put her gift of healing powers to good use. But everything changes the morning a mysterious wolf darts in front of her car. Touching the wounded creature’s tawny coat, a tingle surges through her. Yet when she returns with aid, Mairi is shocked to find instead a man with broad shoulders and fire in his eyes—a man who tempts her to unleash the animal within.

Read on for my thoughts on My Tempting Highlander.  No true spoilers, promise.

Mairi Sinclair is not tempted to return to her own time period.  Why would she want to leave Edinburgh, Scotland – or at least, the modern day location of the city she’s come to love.  Here she has all the conveniences possible, a job that she loves and a way to use her healing powers, mostly unnoticed by those she’s helped.  Oh yes, she’d been summoned back, and completely ignored that command.  She’s staying right here, right now and there is nothing that could possibly change her stubborn mind.

Roan Sutherland has been searching for the one woman who could break this curse upon him, his mother and his best friend.  You’d think over three centuries that he would have found her – not that he hasn’t made a few mistakes over time – kidnapping the wrong bride comes to mind – but the man is desperate so any means available is his sworn motto.  The fates have finally smiled upon him (note-never trust a smiling fate) and he is being sent into the future to return with his mate.  Really Roan, did you really think it would be that easy?  Have you learned nothing over the decades?  Silly Highlander.

My Tempting Highlander is a delightful tale full of shifters, magic, witches, curses… and two very stubborn people who might find love if they’d just bend a bit in that ornery nature of theirs.  The beauty and magic of Scotland, in both time periods, comes through so clearly in Ms Greyson’s words.  She’s built a world that is stunning in beauty and tingling with hidden magic.

While Roan and Mairi certainly have chemistry, life might have been a bit easier for them if Roan had not kept some things hidden from his mate.  No one, man or woman, likes to be lied to even if the lie is an omission of fact.  The couple’s stubborn natures often get in the way of their happiness.  Someone has to give a bit, and neither one intends to be that one.  While on some level I could understand Mairi’s anger and frustration at having her choice taken from her, eventually though her whining, complaining and yes, stubbornness began to grate on me and impact how I related to her.  Roan on the other hand, I often wanted to shake his massive shoulders – why could he not tell Mairi everything?  Why was it necessary to keep denying and giving only half truths?  Highlander, if you want a happy, sensuous, and long lasting relationship with this woman… you should have told her the whole truth from the start.  But then, *grin* characters rarely listen to me and go about their merry way bumbling through to their own happy ending.

I enjoyed My Tempting Highlander very much and would recommend it to any Paranormal Romance, Historical Romance reader.  Since this is the third story in the Highland Hearts series, there are some areas where it would have helped the reader to have followed this series from the start.  It is always my stand that any series is best going from book one onward – yet, I believe you’d enjoy this tale without having read the previous stories.  There are enough clarifying mentions that you’d not be totally lost if this is your first trip into this world.

*I received an e-ARC of My Tempting Highlander from the publisher, Random House – Loveswept and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.  That does not change what I think of this novel.*
