Synopsis:
For vengeance – would you trust a vampire?
For justice – could you betray your family?
For love – are you ready to question everything you believe in?
Gifted with the ability to read the shadows of ‘third species’ beings, Caitlin Parish is the Vampire Control Unit’s most powerful agent. Despite that, her mission to hunt down Kane Malloy – a master vampire – comes with a death wish. Many have tried, but few have survived.
For Caitlin, tracking Kane is about more than just professional reputation. With her parents both mysteriously killed 7 years apart to the day, Caitlin knows that without Kane’s help she is next.
She has four days to make a deal with the wicked, the irresistible, the treacherous Kane Malloy. The vampire who despises everything she stands for.
Or die.
Read on for my thoughts on Blood Shadows. No true spoilers, promise.
This is a paranormal universe like none you have encountered before. These vampires, lycans, witches and other species are nothing near to what you have read about in other paranormal universes. Yes, on the surface there are of course similarities but it will not take long to realize you are not reading what you expected to be reading.
Normally I would be talking a bit about the main characters, Caitlin and Kane. But I find that I don’t want to repeat their story in this review. There are stories that are so powerful, so intense that I do not believe anyone should warn you about what is to come. You should read Blood Shadows for yourself.
If you truly need an overview in order to open yourself up to this amazing story, which is the beginning of the Blackthorn series – then GoodReads or Amazon have plenty of those reviews to feed that need. I’m not being rude nor coy – I truly do feel that if you love the Paranormal genre and have not yet discovered Lindsay J. Pryor or these novels… then you need to read them, experience them firsthand.
This world has a very noir feel to it. The sense of constant danger lurking just around each corner is very real. It takes a surprisingly small amount of time to simply accept the rules of this world and then fall into the story, the people, the threats and the attraction.
The Blackthorn world: 1.) Blood Shadows 2.) Blood Roses 3.) Blood Torn 4.) Blood Deep
This is not a new series, so any of the novels should be easy to find. I know that I am heading over to Amazon once this review is up to do some specific shopping. I need to know more, what is coming next and I need that now. I’m finding that I do not want to leave this Blackthorn world until I’ve experienced it all – I know of no higher compliment to pay to the author.
It is an amazing, intense world. I hope you will take the time and perhaps the risk of discovering it for yourself. You will be drawn in, you will experience the unexpected and you will enjoy every single minute of your time in the Blackthorn world. I don’t guarantee it – but I do believe it is an extremely possible conclusion. Go on, check it out for yourself. Enjoy.
*I received an e-ARC of Blood Shadows from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
~Any review is just one person’s opinion. You might feel the same or totally different. The only way to know for certain is for you to read it. This was my opinion of this particular book.~
Blood Shadows and the other novels in this series are available for the Kindle, paperback and audio
Great review Marsha, Blackthorn is different to any other vampire series I’ve read, I love it.

I cannot think of any other paranormal universe anywhere near what Blackthorn is like. I’m finding myself reading the novels back to back, in what free time I have for pleasure reading – I simply cannot leave that world. So definitely agree – I love it too.
Thanks you so much for stopping by and commenting. It’s appreciated.
