It was a decent haul this week – not “too” crazy but a couple titles caught my eyes.

So because this post is longish I’m going to shorten it a bit here – and invite you to read more about my Stack the Shelves list for this week on the next page – then I won’t feel so bad filling up your reader with one long-ggg post.  🙂  Read on Booklovers.

First up is Hell on Wheels (Black Knights #1) by Julie Ann Walker because I’d wanted to start the series and.. it was “free” to start so why not?  🙂

Hell on WheelsNate “Ghost” Weller has loved Ali Morgan nearly half his life. But he’s done something so heinous he’s convinced she’ll never forgive him if she discovers the truth, so he keeps his feelings and his secrets to himself. Then she blows into town with a mother lode of bad guys on her tail and Nate can’t deny she’s in serious trouble. Unfortunately, he’s the only one who can help her.

She’s the good girl he’s kept at arm’s length…

Ali knows Nate as the most solemn, aloof man on the planet. Sadly, he’s also the sexiest. For years she’s avoided him, unable to stomach his dark scowls and brooding silences… especially when she secretly yearns for his touch. Now she must rely on him to save her from the malevolent shadows ghosting her every move. When the bullets explode, so does their passion. But can love really conquer all? Or are some things just too terrible to forgive?

Next up is Take It Like A Vamp by Candace Havens – one it’s a vampire story (points to self–addicted to vampires), and two I’ve picked up the next story Baby’s Got Bite from NetGalley which releases on the 28th … so read the first and then the new release.

Take It Like A VampVampire Nick Christos might’ve been born in the Middle Ages, but the good old days seem tame compared to the last eight years he’s spent ruling the Supernatural Council. His only respite is with his cute neighbor Casey Meyers, a woman he wants more than any undead man should. Sure, he’s forced to take a cold shower after every encounter, but there’s no way he’ll test his own strength by getting too close to a human, and he’s not willing to risk her life—not with bloodthirsty family on the prowl out to ruin Nick’s life.

When said Nick’s kin shows up, the innocent Casey is caught in the middle of a centuries old fight, and Nick’s biggest fear is realized. Now, instead of keeping his hands off his neighbor, he’ll risk everything to save the human he’s come to love.

Then the second in series:

Baby's Got BiteSome consequences bite . . . big time.

Bennett Langdon has a firm no-relationships policy. Still, it doesn’t stop her from hooking up with a super-sexy bad boy at her best friend’s wedding. After all, it’s only one night—what harm could it do? Ten weeks later, a pregnant Bennett has her answer…

Linc Monahan can’t believe it. This wasn’t supposed to happen. He’s a werewolf, and shouldn’t be able to father a child with a human. Now Linc has to find some way to tell Bennett that not only do werewolves exist, but she’s about to have a baby with one.

But when word of their surprise conception gets out, the fur hits the fan. There are people who don’t want this baby to be born—even if it means killing. Now Bennett and Linc aren’t just fighting each other . . . they’re fighting for their lives

Then there was the beautifully haunting idea behind Sara’s Promise by Deanna Lynn Sletten that just made my “must have spidey sense” going crazy when I read the blurb.

Sara's PromiseDo you believe in soul mates?

William Grafton had the perfect life with his lovely wife, Sara, and two wonderful children. But one day his perfect forever was shattered when Sara died suddenly, leaving him alone to raise his children and wonder how he would ever get through life without his soul mate. Five years later, he finds himself looking into a familiar pair of blue-green eyes that remind him of Sara. The woman is the exact opposite of his late wife, yet he finds he is drawn to her. But after a few strange occurrences, he begins to wonder–are these just coincidences or has his Sara come back to him as she once promised in the form of this new woman?

Annie Paxton doesn’t believe in soul mates or fate. She had watched her father die of a broken heart after her mother passed away and has since cast away any fairy tale ideas of love. Then she meets the man who has been haunting her dreams and she begins to see love in a whole new light. But her dream man is still tied to his deceased wife, and Annie doesn’t know if he will ever be able to break away from his past. As strange occurrences unfold, Annie wonders if William could ever truly love her for herself and not for the traits that remind him of Sara.

Were William and Annie brought together by fate, coincidence or by Sara keeping her promise?

Next on the list is An Unexpected Date by Susan Hatler (with new cover) because An Unexpected Kiss is coming in September and I simply wanted to get the first one read before the next release.  I always seemed to be catching up on Susan Hatler’s stories, so trying to remedy that with her newer releases.

An Unexpected Date

Holly loves living in her cozy mountain town and all the surrounding beauty soothes her soul. She treasures beading jewelry for her own small business while watching nature and its amazing creatures outside her window. But, her mom begs her to move back to the city so she can find a man to marry. Holly doesn’t want to give up on her dreams, but does that mean she’ll have to give up on love?

I know, the list is long but only two more this week so hang in there with me booklovers.  🙂

More Than Memories by Kristen James captured my attention from the blurb and really made me want to know this couple’s story.

More Than MemoriesBook 1, Memories Series

Can she love him if she can’t remember him? Molly Anderson returns “home” to a town she doesn’t remember, hoping it will spark a memory. She runs into Trent Williams, a Ridge City police detective, and something else definitely sparks.

He wants to know why she left town, with her parents, but without a word to anyone. She doesn’t remember that life. She can only tell him she knew her parents briefly before they died . . . or were murdered, she’s not sure. She hopes regaining her memory will help answer that question.

Trent has his own secrets, but they have a mystery to solve. As they work together and Molly meets their old friends, she realizes their relationship went deeper than memories. In fact, she grew up in Ridge City, even though her parents had said they lived there just a few years. How could she have forgotten her lifelong friend and love? Can she love him again if she doesn’t remember him? There’s also the possibility that she did something awful — and maybe that’s why she’s afraid to remember her old life.

Molly knows she wants him now, but the truth might destroy their love.

And to finish out the week (where I seem to have gone on a cowboy hunt) I picked up Part Time Cowboy by Maisey Yates – the first in the Cooper Ridge series.

Part Time CowboyA one-time bad girl comes home to small-town Oregon in the first in a sexy, heartfelt new series from USA TODAY bestselling author Maisey Yates…

Sadie Miller isn’t expecting any welcome-home parades on her return to Copper Ridge. Least of all from part-time rancher, full-time lawman Eli Garrett. The straight-laced, impossibly hot deputy sheriff glares at her like she’s the same teenage hoodlum who fled town ten years ago. But running from her demons has brought Sadie full circle, ready to make a commitment at last. Not to a man, but to a B and B. On Garrett land. Okay, so her plan has a tiny flaw…

Eli works too hard to let a blonde ball of trouble mess up his town. But keeping an eye on Sadie makes it tough to keep his hands off her. And if she’s so wrong for him, why does being with her feel so right?

So, yeah – I’m happy with my picks this week.  For once I didn’t go Too Overboard on the book pickups.  In truth, it really never matters to me if a story that catches my eye is a brand spanking new release or one that I missed a few years ago, or even catching up on a new to me author.  I love the stories within those covers – they are the timeless part of the love of books that I hope I never, ever outgrow.

Take It Like A Vamp and its sequel just out called Baby’s Got Bite — are both amazing stories that I would highly recommend. And the story inside that cover is even yummier *wink* Hope you check them out and enjoy.
