Cover Description:
Hollie Douglas has dreamed of a White Christmas ever since she was a child, but her dream implodes when her fiancé breaks her heart two months before their big day. Convinced by her best friend to go ahead with her planned honeymoon anyway, Hollie doesn’t expect to find herself stuck in a snowstorm in rural Canada two days before Christmas.
Jim Bell has been dreading another Christmas without his wife. When one of his orphaned animals goes missing in the middle of a snowstorm, he didn’t expect he’d be rescuing a stranded Australian tourist as well. He quickly realizes Hollie is carrying as much emotional baggage as him, and when she accepts his offer to seek shelter at his farm, he wonders if he’s doing the right thing.
As Jim helps Hollie fulfill her White Christmas dreams, the winter wonderland and spirit of Christmas work their healing magic on both of them.
Read on for my thoughts on Operation White Christmas. No true spoilers, promise.
Operation White Christmas is a short novella packed full of Christmas charm and magic. When Hollie’s jerk of an intended groom cheats on her months before the wedding she is done with him. But her dream of experiencing a truly white Christmas in Canada, that’s one dream she doesn’t have to give up. The trip is planned so when Hollie’s best friend convinces her to go get her one lifelong dream of a snowy, pure white Christmas anyway – Hollie sets out on the dream trip, even if she’s going on the honeymoon alone.
Jim is still mourning the death of his beloved wife. The pain of her loss hasn’t eased much and the approaching Christmas season seems to intensify what is no longer a part of his life. What Jim doesn’t realize just yet is that fate moves in mysterious ways (or maybe an angel is watching over him). When he has to head out into a snowstorm the last thing he expects to find is a stranded beautiful woman – one who simply wanted the picture perfect Christmas card experience but got a snowstorm and a baby llama needing rescued instead.
Offering the shelter of his farm, Jim has taken the first step toward a future neither he or Hollie saw coming. But one that could mend the hearts of two wounded souls and give them exactly what they each need most this Christmas.
I really enjoyed this short novella. It won’t take up much of your time, but the feels and the enjoyment will last long past the last page. Life and love goes on as Operation White Christmas will prove to us all. There’s always an open window when a door closes – you simply need to be brave enough to go looking for it and accepting the gift when it’s right there in front of you. Pick this one up, I believe you’ll enjoy the time spent with Hollie and Jim.
*I received an e-ARC of Operation White Christmas from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
