Read on for my thoughts on A Soldier’s Love.  No true spoilers, promise.

A Soldier’s Love is an intense, gripping story.  The second novel in the series, this is Melody and Jason’s continuing romance and the events surrounding their upcoming wedding.  Melody is experiencing  a difficult pregnancy that raises the risks because of the injury she suffered while on deployment.  Just when it seems that they have troubles behind them – all hell breaks loose in the form of a vindictive, manipulative  just plain nasty sister.  Candice will destroy several marriages, tell a dark secret to Melody in the nastiest way with the meanest intentions.  Jason’s ex-wife will stir up more trouble.

It isn’t possible to put the various nuances of this story into a review – not without telling you the entire story, which is not my intent.  A Soldier’s Love is intense in story line, emotions and the way you will react to various characters both good and bad.  There are at least three pure pieces of nasty work, and they aren’t all female.

I enjoyed this story.  It is very intense and gripping.  This is a couple who simply wants to get married and live happily after after – but they have to go through so much before they reach that point.  Throughout it all their love for each other remains true – but there are people who want nothing more than to destroy what they have and they will use every dirty, nasty trick in the book to accomplish that.  I’ll be honest, there is a lot to take in during the playing out of this story – but every little piece is tied to another piece somewhere else so it’s all important and needed.

And I don’t feel that I can say much more without giving away spoilers.  This is one of those stories that you need to read yourself to appreciate because there are so many layers within it.  But it is well worth the time and risk.

*I received an e-ARC of A Soldier’s Love from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
