Cover Description:
At seventeen, Lizzy’s first love swindled her out of a small fortune in lottery winnings, and her own small business—forcing her to strip to keep loan sharks at bay. That’s what led her to Vegas. Now she’s agreed to cater a Valentine’s Day party for her friend and soon-to-be business partner, Duncan. What she doesn’t know is that the shy, wealthy tech wiz is secretly in love with her. Lizzy also doesn’t expect to be hauled in by the cops when the two of them are accused of murdering Duncan’s gold-digging (almost) ex-wife…
Lizzie should have learned the first time that mixing business with pleasure isn’t a good idea. For the record, she doesn’t sleep with friends. But as she and Duncan race to clear their names and find a killer, might they also discover they’re more than friends—just in time for the most romantic day of the year?
Read on for my thoughts on Sin and the Millionaire. No true spoilers, promise.
Sin and the Millionaire is a quick read that packs quite a punch for a novella. Duncan is the cute, hotly cute nerd with supreme shyness issues. He’s in the process of getting a divorce from a woman who married him only for what she could get out of him. He’s been in love with Lizzie for a while now, but hasn’t acted on it — yet.
Lizzie has known desperation and loss, but it hasn’t changed her core personality. When a now ex had taken her small lottery winnings and ruined her business she’d taken desperate measures to survive. But she had survived. Now she was a caterer and a good one, too. She and Duncan were about to become business partners.
When Duncan’s soon to be ex-wife is murdered, he and Lizzie are among the first persons of interest pulled in for questioning. Fortunately, they were each other’s alibi. But that doesn’t stop them from doing their own investigating – and getting closer to each other in the search for a killer.
Lizzie had mixed business and love together once with disastrous results. Now she’s realizing that Duncan is just as attracted to her as she is to him, and while that should scare her, oddly she feels safer than she ever has before.
I enjoyed Lizzie and Duncan’s adventure and their fall into love. Sin and the Millionaire is an enjoyable romance with a touch of suspense. It’s a story that is quick to read but long on entertainment. I’d definitely recommend it and the entire series.
*I received an e-ARC of Sin and the Millionaire from the publisher, Lyrical Press and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*

Agreed. There’s just something about a geeky, shy but hot guy that appeals to me. 🙂
