Gwen Miller may be a human, but she has no problem taking a stand against her own kind. She’s going to testify against the teenage boy she saw viciously assault a lone shifter female—and no amount of pressure from the boy’s wealthy family will make her back down. But when the harassment turns violent, help comes in the form of a lean, toned wolf with winter-gray eyes.

As a guest at Gwen’s inn, shifter enforcer Zander Devlin can’t help but notice that the fierce and leggy brunette is in serious trouble. Since she’s putting herself at risk for one of his kind, keeping her safe is the least he can do. That’s not the only reason Zander wants her close. He desires her, even as the wolf inside him backs away from her. But his feral instincts are hard to keep down, and as they take shape, they’re harder for Gwen to resist. Then again, embracing them could be the only thing that could save her life

I have long enjoyed The Phoenix Pack and now The Mercury Pack, so it’s no surprise that I enjoyed Gwen and Zander’s romance.  I liked the way this story comes together a bit differently than the other Mercury Pack stories.  Gwen is strong, determined, stubborn, will stand up to bullies, and believes in doing the right thing… and she’s human.  She stopped a young man from attacking a shifter, she will testify against this attacker no matter what others will try to do to change her mind.  She’s loyal, a bit quirky, and the perfect woman to have at your side for a lifetime.

Now Zander just  has to convince his wolf that Gwen is the perfect mate, fight off some troublemakers, and deal with other various issues.  Zander has troubles of his own to deal with around the time he meets Gwen, but a human woman standing up against her own to defend one of his will put her square in the middle of his radar.

People are going to hate what they don’t understand, what’s different from them.  It is a sad fact of history, real life and fiction.  This is what we have in Lure of Oblivion – hate.  And a woman who is willing to put her life in danger to stand up against hate.  It’s a poignant story, it’s a relatable story and it’s a sizzling, love story as well.  I enjoyed my time in this world once again and would recommend this story and the series to any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader.
