I have loved the Naughty Princess Club series, but in my opinion, the best was definitely saved for last. Kiss the Girl brings us Ariel and Eric’s story, and what a romance challenge it is since he’s always been head over heals since the first, and she’s always seen his surface and not the real man underneath.
I think we often toss around the word “empowering” too casually – yet I cannot come up with another word that truly describes this series, and especially Kiss the Girl. Cindy, Belle and Ariel had hit absolute rock bottom and once they found each other have done nothing but build each other back up, taken control of their own lives and gave no one else control over them, not ever again. The empowering of women who have taken control over their own destinies is so strong and so well done in this series. I have loved each heroine, watched them grow into the women they could be, maybe always were — and yes, they found love, but that was never the goal, that was the extra benefit.
I loved Eric, he’s an amazing character, yet I loved him for what he felt for Ariel. He simply loved her exactly as she was, sure he wanted to help her, to bring back to her the joy of life once again but he first and always loved her exactly as she is… and that is rare and beautiful in my eyes. There will be some bumps along the way for this couple, there always has to be an evil witch or nasty troll somewhere even in the retelling of a fairy tale. Yet, the difficulties they face together and separately only make them a stronger, more secure couple in the end… and that’s what matters. I have had a blast with this series and I’m sad to see it come to its conclusion. I would recommend reading this series in order, oh you could read them individually but then you wouldn’t get the sense of these women coming into their own from the worst the past dealt to them into the amazing, strong and empowered women they are today. Kiss the Girl is a stunning conclusion to the Naughty Princess Club, and I cannot wait to see what Tara Sivec has for us next.
