Will she be the secret ingredient to his happiness?

Valerie Perry has just inherited her grandmother’s home in Last Stand, Texas, a far cry in the country from her city life as an organic grocery buyer in San Antonio. Her methodical daily routine suits her just fine, so she aims to freshen up the property, sell it, and take her funds back to the city. She’s only got two weeks during her vacation to make this happen. Now is the time to cash in and get out.

The oldest Hutchinson son, who people around town know as “Hutch,” is a third generation local who is poised to take over the family business with his brother, Cole. The barbeque brothers have very different ideas about the future of their restaurant, “The Hut.” Just when he thought his biggest headache was his job, Hutch meets Valerie and both their worlds are upended. He’s drawn to this fish out of the water, but Valerie’s time in Last Stand has an expiration date.

Their sweet and saucy styles don’t mix, but can they both find the recipe to a happy future?

Peach Clobbered by Anna Gerard

Posted July 12, 2019 by Marsha in Cozy Mystery, Series / 0 Comments

What’s black and white and dead all over? Georgia bed and breakfast proprietor Nina Fleet finds out when she comes across a corpse in a penguin costume.

Nina Fleet’s life ought to be as sweet as a Georgia peach. Awarded a tidy sum in her divorce, Nina retired at 41 to a historic Queen Anne house in quaint Cymbeline, GA. But Nina’s barely settled into her new B&B-to-be when a penguin shows up on her porch. Or, at least, a man wearing a penguin suit.

Harry Westcott is making ends meet as an ice cream shop’s mascot and has a letter from his great-aunt, pledging to leave him the house. Too bad that’s not what her will says. Meanwhile, the Sisters of Perpetual Poverty have lost their lease. Real estate developer Gregory Bainbridge intends to turn the convent into a golfing community, so Cymbeline’s mayor persuades Nina to take in the elderly nuns. And then Nina finds the “penguin” again, this time lying in an alley with a kitchen knife in his chest.

A peek under the beak tells Nina it’s not Harry inside the costume, but Bainbridge. What was he doing in Harry’s penguin suit? Was the developer really the intended victim, or did the culprit mean to kill Harry? Whoever is out to stop Harry from contesting the sale of his great-aunt’s house may also be after Nina, so she teams up with him to cage the killer before someone clips her wings.

Calm Before the Witch Storm by Constance Barker

Posted July 11, 2019 by Marsha in Cozy Mystery, Paranormal Romance, Series / 0 Comments

When Nann (that’s with 2 nn’s please) moves to her late Aunt Nancy’s home in Calamity Corners, she wonders why there’s a little pig running amok with a toilet seat in its mouth. But that’s the least of her worries. She has a bookstore to open.

Cemetery Center doesn’t sound like an up and coming place to open a new business, but the square footage is huge and the rent is right. Her shop neighbor Zinnia owns the art gallery next door. But Zinnia has a secret, one that occurs on the full moon. Werewolf? Not exactly.

When Nann searches for a vehicle to buy, she’s sent to the only car repair shop in town. However, Tink, the shop mechanic, has Spock’s ears. Okay…And what’s going on on the third floor of her bookstore building? Men get together and drink beer around a coffin. Someone mentioned the VHS. Vampire Hunter Society? Van Helsing Society? This town is getting weirder by the minute.

But that’s just the way Nann likes it. She’s a Druid witch, just like her late Aunt Nancy. She’s come to take over her aunt’s home and move the family bookstore business. Pokey the Pig is Aunt Nancy’s familiar and by lineage becomes Nann’s familiar. She communicates through the radio, and depending on what station you’re on, Nann either gets a red-eyed feisty porker or ‘I just want to be held’ piggy.

So when boys begin to go missing in neighboring towns, Nann is convinced it’s magic that’s gone haywire. Could it be the giant pointy eared mechanic named Tink has taken to kidnapping, or does her neighbor shifter Zinnia have an appetite for humans? Or could whatever is in the coffin on the third floor have a hand in it? The gang is also looking at Nann….they all remember Hansel & Gretel. Nann must find Aunt Nancy’s witch books so she can put a stop to the disappearances, but she’s in for more than she bargained for when forces come at her from different directions.

Some Merging, A Bit of Rearranging

Posted July 11, 2019 by Marsha in Discussion Post / 2 Comments

Over the next three months, I will be merging the best (if not all) of three smaller blogs, and some posts (that I can recreate) from blogs that I had to delete for various reasons.

(and that’s my Harley over there – she’s sad, too, at the extra work that has to be done now – but toss her a ball and she’s over it much faster than I am 🙂 )

If you’re on my mailing lists you might see an increase in the notifications – and if you follow me on Twitter you will definitely see an increase there.  Yet, sometimes you just have to take care of stuff and that’s what I’ll be doing for a while.

My overall plan is a slow feed of posts over to Keeper Bookshelf from today until the beginning of November when those other blogs will go away as well.  It won’t be overpowering, and you’ll probably not notice anything different.  But I’m a person who explains why something different is happening with my websites — and this is most definitely different.

Thanks for your patience.  Hopefully, the end result will be well worth the time and work involved.  🙂

Can’t Wait Wednesday 7-10-19

Posted July 10, 2019 by Marsha in Discussion Post / 5 Comments

The Can’t Wait Wednesday weekly anxiously waiting for this book meme is hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings.  If you’re waiting for a great book to be released then this is the place to show and tell – and maybe find some other books to await as well.  (I know I always do)

I have followed Christine Feehan’s “The Dark Carpathians” for years now, actually since I got hooked on the very first story of an ancient vampire and the woman who became his world.  Since then this world has expanded and is now up to #33 in titles published.  Considering her other long going series that’s an impressive number to keep a world still fresh and intriguing with every new additional story.

So this week I’m waiting for the September 3, 2019 release of DARK ILLUSION (A Dark Carpathian Novel).

But when his friend calls him over to a bar to meet a bunch of tipsy, flirtatious bridesmaids, they assume otherwise. After all, their stripper was supposed to be dressed like a doctor. Aaron isn’t much for pretending, but with Kelsey, he’s willing to be whatever she wants him to be. At least for one night.

But fate has a wicked sense of humor: Aaron and Kelsey are the maid of honor and best man at the same wedding. And after their one-night stand, Kelsey’s pregnant, but she doesn’t know how to tell him. Aaron wants to start a relationship, but he doesn’t think Kelsey wants something long term. Can their fragile romance survive all the half-truths and secrecy?
