Mettner, Katie

Katie Mettner writes riveting, emotional, intense stories for Harlequin Intrigue and others.  I know her work from Harlequin, but I’ll be checking out her other books from her huge backlist on her website. That link is below.

She writes with such diversity, especially about disabilities.  And, frankly, I admire her for not only her inclusive stories, but for presenting the disability community (of which both my son and I, since I use a wheelchair after a fall and spinal fusion surgery-face on a daily basis) in a positive, realistic, relatable light.  As Ms Mettner is an amputee herself, her stories are believable in a world where often an author is guessing or researching the realities of the disabled world.  That’s not said with malice, but with an understanding of the publishing world, in that inclusive stories are more the norm now, and not everyone has experienced that inclusion (in whatever form) personally.  Quite frankly, everyone reading this is truly only an accident (large or a simple misstep) away from being disabled themselves… I fell over my damned cat!  One second, and my life changed; it can happen to anyone.

Her official website can be found at this link:  Katie Mettner
