The Cowboy’s Daughter by Jamie K. Schmidt

Posted June 6, 2019 by Marsha in Modern Western Romance, Series / 0 Comments

She’s moved home, but can she move on?

One night with professional bull rider Trent Campbell had been everything that Kelly Sullivan had fantasized about. Unfortunately, it cost her everything. When she became pregnant, her father threw her out because she wouldn’t tell him the baby’s father was his rodeo hero—the hero who ghosted her when she tried so many times to tell him about their daughter.

Trent Campbell never forgot the best night of his life. It was what kept him going when a 2,000-lbs bull ended his career and almost his life. Throughout his long recovery, thinking of Kelly and wishing he still had his stolen phone so he could contact her, were what got him through the tough days—that, and his bull-headed stubbornness that he’d not only walk again, he’d ride.

When Kelly returns to Last Stand, Texas, in a last-ditch effort to keep her family from selling the Three Sisters Ranch, she has a plan to make her father proud of her again by turning part of the land into a portrait studio location. Her father, however, has already temporary leased Trent some land for a rodeo school. Kelly and Trent still have the same explosive chemistry, but now the stakes are higher. If she lets Trent into her life, it won’t only be her heart he breaks this time if he leaves, it will be their daughter’s.

The Second Chance Rancher by Kate Pearce

Posted June 4, 2019 by Marsha in Modern Western Romance, Series / 0 Comments

It might be the pride of hard work on rugged terrain, the welcoming community, or the memories–but wherever the folks of Morgantown may roam, they have a way of coming back to the ranch . . .

There’s a reason Jackson Lymond left the Air Force, but he’s not telling a soul. He’d rather keep things simple while trying to start a new life helping his older brother on their northern California ranch. At least Morgantown’s flirty local bartender can keep his mind off the past–that is until he runs into Daisy Miller.

Daisy doesn’t really expect Jackson to remember her. Back in school, she did her best to blend in–and pretend she didn’t have five brothers who’d hogtie any boy who even looked at her. These days though, she and Jackson might have more in common than just their ranching relatives. After all, they both left home only to return. Trouble is, under the watch of her fiercely protective family, Daisy is longing for some privacy. Letting Jackson into her life could make that even more difficult–or it might be the second chance they’re both looking for.

Titles in The Millers of Morgan Valley series include – The Second Chance Rancher – The Rancher’s Redemption –

(Note: The Millers of Morgan Valley is a spin-off series of The Morgan Ranch series.  While some characters from the original series do make appearances in the spin-off series it’s not really necessary to have read The Morgan Ranch to enjoy The Millers of Morgan Valley – but – it is a great series that you really shouldn’t miss if you love Modern Western Romance, in my opinion.)

He’s the man she left behind, but never forgot… Laurel Moore might have had to leave her prized job as an assistant chef in one of NYC’s swankiest restaurants to take care of her brother and mother after her father’s death, but she’s not giving up on her dream. Nope. She’s going to turn her father’s debt-ridden, greasy spoon bar and restaurant into a destination gastropub that will bring life back to her small, struggling town.

Spurred on by Laurel’s rejection a decade ago, Jonah cleaned up his act and became an academic and psychologist, who helps everyone understand their feelings except himself.

Sunday Post #2

Posted June 3, 2019 by Marsha in Discussion Post / 0 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.  See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

I have loved visiting the blogs that follow The Sunday Post and decided that it’s time to join up myself.  Hey, you can never have enough book-friends, right?

Away From The Keyboard News

It’s been a quiet week on the homefront.  With so much rain the grass is about to take over our back yard.  I’m seriously keeping an eye out for triffids at this point, so much rain that nothing has dried out enough to cut.  I’m sure the young man who cuts our grass will be thrilled to see that “hay field” out back, right?  🙂

Last Week On The Blog(s)

I’ve been doing some consolidating this week, some clean-up in many cases.  It always amazes me to look back and see how my style of blogging has changed – hopefully for the better.  I have all but two reviews from May done, those last ones will be up today.  Sometimes life just gets in the way in spite of scheduled posts and good intentions.  Ah well, June is a brand new start.

Added To The Reading Piles

Went a bit crazy on NetGalley last week.  Why do all the interesting, “Oh, I need to read that one.” books come out at the same time?  Thankfully, they are all spaced about a month apart so it shouldn’t be too bad – I just shake my head at myself when I look at that list and wonder how it got so long.  🙂

I actually behaved myself on Amazon for a change.  I didn’t pick up anything at all, although I do have my eye on a few releases for June.

Re-reading this post it seems that last week around here was a bit boring – oh, and Sunday Post somehow became Monday Post (how did I lose a day?) not sure how that happened.  Oh, well – I hope your reading week to come is full of adventures and fun tales.

June Winters is a people person and delights in welcoming Magnus to Sagebrush Flats, though it seems unlikely she can get the handsome stranger to crack a smile. Then a mishap with an open gate forces Magnus and June to deal with a stampeding flock of fainting goats, an adorable but clingy polar bear cub, a cranky pregnant camel, and two star-crossed honey badgers.
