Over forty. Divorced. Rocking a little revenge against the Ex. A dash of magic and things are suddenly looking up. Even if you do you have to cross your legs when you sneeze.

One day I’m married, living in Seattle, and magic isn’t real.

The next, I’m divorced and living in the guest room of my ex’s hotter-than-sin cousin’s place in Savannah . . . and talking to an animated skeleton named Robert.

I have to admit, Robert isn’t my worst date.

At forty-one, I didn’t think I’d be starting over. But I’ll be damned if my ex thinks I’m down and out because he pulled a fast one on me.

When a job comes my way that offers me a chance to use my childhood training in the shadow world, I take it – I need the money more than I care about my sanity.

It’s dangerous.

I have to embrace the magic and dark of my past.

And I need Advil to keep me going.

But those who’d hold me back better sit up and take notice, because a new woman is in town, and she’s not about to be counted out by anyone.

Even if she does groan when she rolls out of bed in the morning.

How the West Was Wed by Margaret Brownley

Posted March 28, 2020 by Marsha in Series, Western Historical Romance / 0 Comments

The only thing threatening their success is love.

After finding herself a widow at the age of twenty-six, Josie Johnson moves back home to Two-Time, Texas and takes over the town’s only newspaper, the Gazette. Everything works as planned until the very charming, very handsome Brandon Wade moves to town to start his own newspaper. At first, Josie welcomes the competition but soon learns that readers prefer Wade’s bold hyperbole to her more serious type of journalism.

Brandon never meant to put the pretty publisher out of business and suggest a solution. Nothing sells newspapers like a good juicy scandal, but lacking that, the next best thing is a good old-fashioned print war between two battling editors. Brandon even writes up an article disparaging himself and his paper to demonstrate. Josie refuses to stoop to such tactics. She’ll gain her readers back on her own terms—or not at all! But when her paper accidentally publishers Wade’s article, the print wars are on.

The rivalry between Josie and Brandon meets with immediate success and both newspapers fly off the racks. Editorial warfare is the talk of the town and readers can’t seem to get enough. But while the ink wars rage on, Josie and Brandon soon find themselves fighting yet another battle—a mutual attraction that could put everything they worked for at risk.

A Very Proud, Rather Personal Post

Posted March 25, 2020 by Marsha in Discussion Post / 2 Comments

I rarely talk about my family’s private life on this blog.  After all, it’s about books, book plots, book reviews, and… well, reading.  So, I don’t often speak about my life outside of those books – sometimes, yes, but it’s not often.

Right now, because I’m so proud of the man my son has become – because of all the challenges he has met every single day of his life I’d like you to meet my kid (who will always be my kiddo but is now a fully grown man of his own).
