A Betrayal that Binds is a standalone title that reunites young lovers a decade later, long after circumstances, misunderstandings, and a complete lack of communication separated them. Constantine’s sense of betrayal has burned for a decade, and he has the perfect plan to bring Aliyah under his control… forever. Aliyah needs Constantine’s influence and his power for her own reasons. She’ll return, but also on her terms. Her demand for a baby during this forced marriage stuns a bit, but she won’t back down… and the red-hot chemistry between them hasn’t cooled one bit in their years apart.
I enjoyed A Betrayal that Binds. Constantine (and the reader) isn’t aware of a lot for a while, things that make Aliyah’s actions a bit more understandable. He’s so caught up in his need for revenge that he misses certain things for a while. This is a couple torn apart by others, while neither really fought it in ways that mattered. It’s so easy to rewrite history from a position of power. There were moments when I just wanted to shake both of them and lock them in a room where they had to talk to each other, really, truthfully have that conversation they should have had years ago. But then, characters rarely listen to me. (which is just as well since I didn’t write them into existence) Their story is well-written, intense, emotional, and passionate, with a decade of hurt to be worked through. If that sounds like your kind of Contemporary Romance, then you’d enjoy this one.
