An Unexpected Companion begins the Legacy Ranch series with a heartwarming, emotional romance between a widow dealing with the challenges left behind by her children’s father’s sudden death and a widower who has lost so much after losing his own family that he’s practically become a hermit.  Neither can clearly see a path beyond the pain, nor the reality of God’s hand in their new circumstances.

When Tessa’s son, Grayson, makes a very bad decision that damages Dirk’s property, she’s at her wits’ end, trying to understand the changes in her son or how to help him.  She didn’t expect Dirk’s kind offer to let Grayson pay for the damage by working side by side with him on a project for her family’s property.  But that one unexpected offer would change so many lives… eventually.

I enjoyed An Unexpected Companion so much.  It’s well-written, heartfelt, and emotional, with life lessons on almost every page.  It unabashedly puts God at the center of the conflict and the solutions these characters face on their path to future happiness.  There will be plenty of laughter, tears, and frustrations before this couple can find their happy ending… but the journey to get there was so worth it for them (and for us readers).  Along the way, we’ll meet Tessa’s great-aunt and her sisters, who will all have their stories told as the series continues.  If that sounds like your kind of Inspirational, Sweet Romance, then you’d love Tessa’s and Dirk’s journey to a very happy ending.
