Anywhere But Here is the sixth title in the Tuckaway Bay series, and finally brings us answers as to where Willow and Wren have disappeared to, and what’s happened in their lives.  I have read this entire series (so far), and while one “could” pick up the series right here, in my opinion, this is a series best followed in order because so much changes for these college friends who meet for one beach week each year.  In the previous story, we discovered that Wren and Willow have missed beach week for reasons that weren’t clear, but obviously they were in trouble.  Anywhere But Here gives us that year or so that the twins went missing… and a whole lot happened to them each and together during that time away from their friends. 

So, in my opinion, the intense impact of the twins’ story won’t be the same if you don’t know their history with the group; still enjoyable and an intensely intriguing story, but with some history missing.  On the other hand, this is a fantastic, realistic romantic suspense with all the twists, turns, and surprises you could ever ask for… so if you do start here, you’ve got a great story experience ahead of you (you can always go back for the earlier titles later), so either way it’s kind of a win-win for any reader!

I don’t feel comfortable saying too much about Wren and Willow’s story beyond what you see in the cover blurb, for a few solid reasons.  First, I try very hard not to give away spoilers, and I frankly don’t think I can talk about their story without unintentionally giving away details, which is my second reason; for the suspense and the emotional impact of this story to be fully felt, well, each reader needs to experience that firsthand. 

Anywhere But Here is an intense story that often kept me on edge as Willow and Wren face challenges both together and apart.  It’s well-written; the plot is intriguing, with secrets that keep being revealed as the story moves to its conclusion.  We don’t know everything beforehand… and neither do the twins.  So there are red herrings, twists and turns, surprises galore to be discovered along with an intriguing, dangerous story to be told. 

I had several “ahha” moments where my mind went, “Okay, now that other thing actually makes sense!”  It’s those discoveries, along with a very well-told, suspense-filled story, that make this one well worth anyone’s time.  I would not hesitate to recommend not only this story, but the entire series to readers who love a really good “sisterhood” type of story with some romance, some danger, and lots of thrills along the way to the end.
