Everyone else is cruising ahead—so why are they stuck in neutral? A one-night stand, hot spring hikes, busted tires, and one bed. This road trip is about to change everything.
Sweet Autumn. Kind Autumn. Always means well, doesn’t she, Autumn.
Being underestimated was something Autumn Townsend knew all too well. Sure, no one took her seriously, but they depended on her. While everyone around her moves on, Autumn remains the same—kind, chaotic, and most of all, stuck.
There was no world in which Nicolai Evjen was going to get himself into a serious relationship again. After his last one ended tragically eight years before, he had closed himself off from ever feeling that pain again. The last thing he needs is a complication.
And Autumn is the worst kind of trouble there is. She’s reckless, too young, distractingly beautiful—and his best friend’s sister.
Nico knows better than to let her anywhere near the driver’s seat. She’ll take the wheel and leave nothing behind—not his sanity, not his peace, and certainly not his heart.
But one impulsive night changes everything. Now, trapped together in an old car with a jammed Eagles tape and thousands of miles of open road, they’re forced to reconsider who they really are—and what they might be together.
When a life-changing secret comes to light, Autumn and Nico must decide how far they’ll travel to make a life together or risk losing the future they never thought they wanted.

Title: Autumn in the Rearview
Series: Seasons of Us #4
Author: Linnea March
Published: November 18, 2025
My Rating: 4.5 stars
Autumn in the Rearview is the fourth title in the Seasons of Us series. I have not yet read the earlier titles, but I had no trouble quickly getting lost in Autumn and Nico’s story. I’ll definitely be going back for the beginning titles, but anything I really needed to know for this couple’s journey was found either in the narrative or the dialogue. So dive right in without any hesitation.
Autumn has been falling for Nico for years now. Yes, he’s her brother’s best friend, yes, there’s an age difference. But so what? Neither should get in the way of how they feel… or at least how Autumn feels. She may be young, but she knows her mind. And she is so very tired of people (insert brother, and Nico) believing she needs protection or looked after like she’s a train wreck or something! She’s simply done with that attitude.
Nico is a wounded soul whose grief, guilt, and pain are eating him alive. He knows he should stay away from Autumn. Yes, there’s the “bro code” of her being his friend’s little sister, but also, he really shouldn’t pull her into his tortured world too deeply. That one night was enough to have him wishing he could… but he can’t, can he? A road trip to take Autumn and her car across the country will put them in far too close proximity… and perhaps answer some important questions they both have as well.
I enjoyed Autumn in the Rearview by Linnea March so much. It dealt, realistically, with mental health issues, with trauma, and with finding the path to healing, which both Autumn and Nico needed in so many ways. Spicy, emotional, this is a story that will touch your heart and not let go from beginning to end. It’s well-written, engaging, emotional, at times funny, at other times heartbreaking… It’s guaranteed to pull you into these characters’ lives, and you will care what happens to them. If that’s your kind of Contemporary Romance, then you’re going to love this one.
