Mark has been attracted to Beth for years, even though he’s been dating her best friend. When Mark and Kelsey break up, Beth is put in one of the most difficult places – loyalty to her friend or desire for the man.
One passionate encounter, one time breaking the friends rule and taking what she wanted has left Beth guilt filled and uncertain. Now it’s up to one man and perhaps a community to show Beth her worth and that loving someone is never the wrong choice.
Because of You is a good story. I could not connect with the characters, I couldn’t care about them or if they got together in the end. When I spend more time wanting to smack someone upside the head or shaking them ’til their teeth rattle, instead of rooting for the romance… then I just didn’t connect with the novel. If I knew that a man had loved me for years, yet stayed in a going nowhere relationship – when he could have been fighting for me… no, I can’t get behind that kind of hero.
Sometimes it just happens. This novel is well written, engaging even – it simply never felt the least bit realistic to me. And that is on me, not the author. While Because of You is a good story, it wasn’t for me – and not every book is going to be for everyone.
