Cover Description:
Transforming the old Caffey property into Hope Springs’s new community arts center won’t be easy for celebrated weaver Luna Meadows, but she sees it as a labor of love.
The center will honor Sierra Caffey, the best friend Luna lost years ago in a car crash. But when Angelo Caffey—Sierra’s older brother and Luna’s first love—returns to his family’s former home demanding answers, Luna must also face her long-buried feelings for him.
Angelo left Hope Springs—and Luna—eight years ago. Handsome and headstrong, he suspects the beautiful Luna harbors a secret about the accident. Yet despite his best efforts, he can’t resist the heat that still simmers between them. Will the untold truth shatter their future? Or could a new beginning lie within the tangled threads of their past?
Read on for my thoughts on Beneath the Patchwork Moon. No true spoilers, promise.
Secrets rarely remain that way for very long. Eventually a slip here, a heart too heavy there or a guilt held close for too long even further down the road of time. Sooner or later secrets will demand to be told. And when they are finally released what happens to the lives of those who had promised to keep those secrets. They wither and die or open up and bloom.
Luna had been holding onto secrets for ten years, and her heart was indeed very heavy. Today, on the tenth anniversary of Sierra and Oscar’s accident, of Sierra’s death Luna took a step toward the future. She had purchased Sierra’s old home, a property that her parents had left behind and allowed to go into foreclosure. She had made the decision to turn this place around and make it into an artist’s center that would do her friends proud as it would open up a new life, new possibilities to students who needed help to achieve their dreams. But today, it was a broken down, worn down property with memories still alive within it’s falling apart walls.
Angelo had returned home after ten years. Home to a property that no longer belonged to his family. Home with questions that had never been answered. And home to the girl, no the woman he had once loved and had walked away from without a backwards glance. He needed answers and only Luna had them to give, if she would simply give up her secrets.
Beneath the Patchwork Moon is such an emotionally intense story. A tale of young lovers, a death too soon, of promises and secrets kept and of a love that never died. Two people had answers to the questions being asked after so many years. Each with their own side of the story, never realizing that the other had seen events so very differently. It is a heart wrenching tale, one that will remain long beyond the final page turned.
Because of the emotions that this story will invoke, this is one of those reviews where I hope you will go and read this one for yourself. My words cannot convey how you will feel as you read about Luna and Angel, Sierra and Oscar and the choices they all made. It is a story that will make you feel for this couple and the secrets that have determined their lives for the last ten years. It’s time to set them free.
