Bodyguard’s Royal Temptation is the first story in the Royal House of Sadat duo/series, and brings us the passionate romance of Cassandra (Cassie) and Ares.  Cassie never expected to become Queen, yet circumstances far beyond her control have thrust her into a role that she has little choice but to accept.  In the weeks leading up to her coronation, Cassie is somewhat overwhelmed with new rules and the enormity of the role she is about to take on.  She’ll also come to the realization that there are so many things that she’ll never be able to do once that crown is upon her head.  She makes an impulsive decision to escape for a few days of freedom, living like any other woman her age, free to embrace choices she’ll never be able to make again.  She’s not running from her responsibilities, but only wants a few days to herself, to be free before committing her life to her beloved country.  She never could have imagined she’d find love on a Greek island with a man she cannot easily forget.

Ares is Cassie’s brother’s friend and a powerhouse in the protection services industry.  He’s a man who has faced the cruelty of betrayal, a man who sees life in black and white with no grey areas allowed.  To say that Ares is uptight, a control freak, and stubborn beyond belief is perhaps an understatement.  There are reasons that he views life as he does, and one princess, one soon-to-be queen, is about to change his life, for the better if he’ll allow some grey into his world.

I enjoyed Bodyguard’s Royal Temptation so much.  Cassie is a believable character in so many ways.  She never expected to take on the role of Queen.  All she wants is a bit of freedom for a few days… but she also has no real clue about the realities of the outside world.  She’s charming, trusting, and meeting Ares totally changed her.  Ares is all alpha male, but his time with Cassie is smoothing out some of those edges, allowing a softer, more emotional man to emerge.  Oh, he’ll always protect Cassie with his life, but he also now wants what he believes he cannot have… the woman he’s come to love.  Their romance is well-written, passionate, and so emotional.  I loved every moment with them, and I’m looking forward to the next story in this duo.  If that sounds like your kind of romantic adventure, then you’d love Cassie and Ares’ romance.
