My Rating:  4.5 stars

Boss’s Bride Price is the second title in the Enemy Tycoons duo/series.  I had not read the other part of this duet, Enemies Until After Hours, before reading this ARC… I wish I had, and that is an oversight that I’ll be taking care of real soon.  I mention it because, while Tali and Dario’s romance can certainly stand on its own, there are emotional lines that flow through their story, and knowing the background might have answered some of my questions beforehand.  So, if you can, I’d suggest reading this duet in order.

Tali grew up on the estate where her mother was the housekeeper, and now she manages it, which desperately needs financial help from the owner.  Her pleas for more funds to refurbish the estate and better support those who work there financially have fallen on deaf ears.  When Dario makes an appearance, Tali presents him with the needs of the estate he’s about to inherit, hoping she can convince him to make the changes that are necessary.  What Tali didn’t know was that Dario had no intention of bringing the estate where he spent miserable years of his life back into anything viable; in fact, his intention is to demolish the entire thing as soon as possible.  Tali is saddened that Dario doesn’t remember her from years ago, when, after the accident, she (as a young girl) spent hours trying to cheer him up.  There is an attraction between them, a pull toward each other that Tali intends to ignore, but Dario sees as the chance to actually get his hands on this property.  His father’s will only gives Dario possession of this estate if he marries an English woman… hence, the idea of a time-limited marriage of convenience seems the perfect solution to him.  Neither expected this plan to become so emotional or so complicated.

Tali and Dario sizzle their way through the romance; their attraction is often off-the-charts hot.  Without giving away details, there are bits of information from Dario’s past that hold him back from trusting most everyone, especially when it comes to the explosive emotion he’s experiencing with Tali.  He’ll call it sexual when in reality, he’s falling deeply in love with a woman he never saw coming into his life.  Their story is well-written, intense, sensual, full of misunderstandings, issues of the past interfering with the present, and a couple who obviously belong together if they can get beyond their own heads.  The Epilogue was especially enjoyable for me as I love to see the past actions be healed in the present and moving forward.  This is why Heidi Rice is an author whose work I will always dive into.  If you enjoy a tense, sexy romance with a couple who fight their passion to a happy ever after ending, then you’d enjoy Boss’s Bride Price.
