He certainly didn’t ask Santa for a bride. . .
Dragged into a crazy publicity stunt, one handsome cowboy has no idea how he ended up accidentally married.
Professional bull rider Chase Jarrett has the world on a string. The only blight in his idyllic existence is his nosy cousin’s nonstop nagging about his need for more publicity. Tired of listening to her suggestions, he gives her free rein when she hatches a plan to skyrocket his popularity. All he has to do is show up for a phony wedding in Las Vegas. Then Chase discovers the wedding was real, the surprise bride is beautiful, and his sponsors are demanding he remain married.
Shy and introverted, the last thing Jessie Pierce wants is to find herself in the spotlight. But thanks to a meddling so-called best friend, that’s exactly where she’s at. The promise of an all-expenses-paid vacation to Las Vegas lures her on an adventure that ends with her unexpectedly married to a hunky bull rider who would draw her out of her shell if she’d let him.
A business proposal leaves the two of them committed to a year of marriage. How hard could it be to remain wed in name only?

Chasing Christmas is the fifth title in the Rodeo Romance series (Christmas Romances), this time featuring professional bull rider Chase Jarrett and graphic designer Jessie Pierce, who somehow, through a publicity stunt by Chase’s cousin, Ashley, find themselves married for a year. One long year that will be filled with more promise and possibilities for a forever kind of love than either could have imagined… but they first have to get through this year, without destroying that spark between them that began upon their first meeting.
I loved everything about Chasing Christmas by Shanna Hatfield, from Ashley’s outrageous idea of a make-believe marriage to the final gut-wrenching few chapters where the longed-for happy ending finally shows up for Chase and Jessie. Their story easily captured my imagination, the rodeo circuit life felt very real (as do all of Ms Hatfield’s rodeo stories), and Jessie, along with Chase, were true to their characters, oblivious to the growing love each felt for the other but were silent about their feelings. Their personalities were slowly revealed to us, and I especially loved when Jessie left her quiet, calm demeanor (although I adored her reasons for that) and lit into Chase when he did a totally dumb male move. (No offense meant to the general male population, but that really was a totally dimwit action on our hero’s part!) In all, their romance is completely believable, even relatable, between a couple who are often too stubborn to see what is developing right in front of them… hey, just about everyone else knew they were in love long before they acknowledged it!
I had such fun with Chase and Jessie, and if you’re looking for a fun Christmas romance this season, then you’d adore Chasing Christmas by Shanna Hatfield just as much as I did. It’s well-written, emotional, funny, intense, and believable… what more could you ask for?
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
*As a side note, I have read the first four titles in this series years ago, and although I’ve yet to post reviews about them, I intend to. Frankly, I’m going to try to get caught up in this series this Holiday season, and will go back to the earlier books when I’m caught up.
