One injured sled dog. One old grudge. One Christmas snowstorm that turns Yukon Valley into a matchmaking minefield.

Reggie Price runs on precision because it keeps Yukon Valley Hospital’s lab humming and his sled dog team on track for the North Pole 500. With the Iditarod qualifier three weeks away, he can’t afford distractions.

Then his lead dog limps into Katz Veterinary Clinic—and bolts straight into Dr. April Katz.

April is all twinkle lights and holiday cheer this Christmas. She’s also juggling a father who thinks responsibility is a love language, a career decision she keeps punting, and the inconvenient fact that Reggie still pushes her buttons.

The town’s matchmaking network declares them a holiday project. A community festival throws them together. And a whiteout strands April at Reggie’s cabin—with a sputtering generator, a crackling fire, and one too-tempting bed.

Then race day comes, and with his dogs’ health and a promise to his brother on the line, Reggie and April must risk the thing they both cling to most: control.

Title:  Code Blue Christmas

My Rating:  4.5 stars

Code Blue Christmas is the fourth title in the Yukon Valley, Alaska Hospital series.  Reggie and April’s story stands on its own, but I recommend the entire series if you are new to it, as the residents of Yukon Valley, Alaska, have some amazing stories to tell.  I’ve always been fascinated by dog-sledding, and I definitely enjoyed that sport being a huge part of the romance.  Most of what you’d want to know before picking this one up is in the cover description.  Emotionally?  This one hits hard on a few levels.

Reggie and April have a history of sorts, and it’s a bit inconvenient right now, with both of them dealing with major issues in their lives.  When one of Reggie’s dogs is injured, he’s about to run into a woman who had a major impact on his life back in college.  Good and not so good.  It’s fair to say there is tension between them at first.  They each have big career and life decisions to make, and meeting up again is the worst possible timing… or is it?  Never say never to a town full of matchmakers determined to bring this couple together.

I enjoyed Reggie and April’s romance.  It’s well-written, engaging, emotional, and just steamy enough to be realistic.  We’ll run into some familiar faces (if you’ve read the earlier titles), and I’ll always love that in any series.  If that sounds like your kind of Christmas Romance, then you’d love Code Blue Christmas.
