Title:  Danger Zone
Series:  K-9 Avalanche Rescue #1
Author:  Cindi Myers
Published:  February 24, 2026
Publisher:  Harlequin Intrigue
My Rating:  4.5 stars

Danger Zone opens the K-9 Avalanche Rescue series with a tense situation that plunges Lily and Scott into a dangerous search for a missing child.  While Lily and her K-9 dog, Shelby, were new to the resort, they certainly had the qualifications to take part in the search, even if Scott wasn’t exactly welcoming them onto his elite team.  But Lily won’t let that deter her since she has a personal connection to Jackson, the missing boy, and she’ll do everything possible to bring him back safely… and alive.

I enjoyed Danger Zone, especially the detailed storyline about Scott’s avalanche dog, Hunter, and Lily’s K-9, Shelby, which fascinated me.  While the romantic buildup felt a bit off to me, the couple going from barely acknowledging their attraction to fully intimate didn’t ring true to me and felt a bit forced or rushed.  But that was my thought; yours might be totally different.  I didn’t take off any ratings points for that, as it was my personal reaction to one small part of an intense, suspenseful, almost desperate rush to find a missing child, fighting through an avalanche, and outwitting the kidnapper to bring Jackson back safe and sound.  To be frank, it was Shelby and Hunter, the trained rescue K-9s, that won my heart in this story.  All in all, I enjoyed my time with this opening story in the series, and I’m definitely on the lookout for Explosive Evidence coming up next.
