Desperate Justice is a standalone title, featuring FBI Agent Rafael (Rafe) and traveling trauma nurse, Allison, who are determined to bring down a drug kingpin, for perhaps different reasons.  They have a history between them since Allison tended to Rafe’s injuries when he was shot, and Allison has been an informant for Rafe in the past.  His obsession with bringing down this drug lord has had career ramifications… but he knows he’s on the right track now and enlists Allison’s help on an emotional mission.  Her sister, Diana, is about to marry the nephew of this evil man.  That fact will give both Rafe and Allie the way to take down the drug lord and keep her sister from a huge mistake… or it will change lives in ways neither expected.

I enjoyed Desperate Justice, but it isn’t without flaws.  For me, the romance felt choppy, rushed at times, but then life isn’t always smoothly flowing for anyone, and they are on a very intense mission… so that might have been my reaction alone.  In all, I found Desperate Justice by Bonnie Vanak to be a fast-paced and intense Romantic Suspense with characters that often leaped off the page in their intensity (good or evil).  If you like an on-the-edge romance, with people you’ll care about finding their right path, and a couple to root for their happy ending, then you’d enjoy this one.
