There are millions of men in Los Angeles, and somehow Julia Stone’s mother just got engaged to the worst possible option. Not that there’s anything wrong with her future stepfather. It’s his son who’s the problem. Event planner Carson Miller is six-plus feet of lean muscle and irresistible charm, and ten years ago, he made Julia’s life hell.

Paired with Carson to organize the last-minute Belize wedding, Julia doesn’t intend to let him off the hook for past bad behavior. If only there weren’t surprising new feelings in the mix, like undeniable heat…

Carson claims he made mistakes; he’s a different person than he was back then. Julia’s response: Prove it. Now, in between wedding planning, zip-lining, and exploring waterfalls, they’re having fun falling hard and wondering if this paradise can last once the party’s over…

Destination Weddings and Other Disasters is the second title in the Belize Dreams series and brings us Julia’s and Carson’s history-filled romance. During their high school years, Julia was often bullied by Carson, and she hasn’t forgotten even one encounter. It doesn’t help one bit that even though Carson’s actions hurt, Julia had a crush on the guy, which she never acknowledged. There were reasons for Carson’s behavior, and as an adult, he’s apologized, claiming to be a changed man… but not so fast, empty words won’t prove a thing. Julia challenges him to prove it, to comfortably work side by side as they organize and plan their parents’ wedding (her mother, his father). After all, they’ll soon be stepsiblings, so it’s reasonable that they get along at the very least.

I enjoyed Destination Weddings and Other Disasters by M.C. Vaughan very much. It’s well-written, full of wit and banter, confessions and forgiveness, and conflicted emotions. While I haven’t yet read the first book in this series, I believe you can enjoy this one as a standalone without any problem. If you love an enemies-to-lovers romance with likable characters, discovering love with an adult perspective, and simply a fun, cute romance, then you’d love Destination Weddings and Other Disasters.
