My Rating: 4.5 stars
Five Alarm Love is the third title in the Yukon Valley, Alaska Hospital series, and brings us Tuli’s and Louise’s slow-burn romance.
Although this was my first encounter with the author’s work and this series, I’ll definitely be back for more. I hadn’t read the earlier books, yet I didn’t feel the least bit lost, as any of the details that I truly needed to know were found in either the dialogue or the narrative.
Tuli and Lou have been friends forever, it seems. And while Tuli has been holding back any stronger feelings because of their friendship, Louise is just beginning to see him through different eyes. Both have issues from their pasts that affect how they handle relationships, but her ex’s actions were unnecessarily cruel given how private she is. They might have held on to only that friendship if someone hadn’t come sniffing around, someone who most definitely wasn’t worthy of Louise.
Watching Tuli deal with the past, begin to show his true feelings for Louise was a beautiful, emotional journey. Sometimes, friendship and a forever love pair up perfectly. I understood Lou’s hesitation in trusting any man with her heart again, but Tuli already had proven his love for her in so many unspoken ways. I had such a good time with Five Alarm Love; it’s well-written, emotional, with a few complications tossed in to rile things up. If you love a friends-to-lovers romance with all the feels you could possibly long for, a realist couple that you’ll root for to find their happily ever after, then this one is perfect for you.
