A brooding covert operative and a spunky CIA agent discover a burning passion in the next installment of Julie Ann Walker’s red-hot BKI series
Dagan Zoelner has made three huge mistakes
The first two left blood on his hands.
The third left him wondering…what if? What if he had told the woman of his dreams how he felt before his world fell apart?
Spitfire CIA agent Chelsea Duvall has always had a thing for bossy, brooding Dagan. It’s just as well that he’s never given her a second look, since she carries a combustible secret about his past that threatens to torch their lives…

If you’ve been following the Black Knight, Inc series than you can’t have possibly missed the sparks that fly between Chelsea and Dagan (or just “Z”) over the course of this series. Finally that powder keg is about to explode and the cinders are going to be very, very hot.
Both Chelsea and Z are holding on to secrets and a past that does’t bear talking about. Yet Chelsea has some mind shaking secrets that she’s terrified of sharing with Z in fear that everything they’re building between them will implode. Add that to the mission that went sideways forcing them to return home with Z as her bodyguard and it’s a mix sure to blow up on someone.
Chelsea and Dagan have been circling around each other for long enough. Their romance is just as fiery as I expected it to be. I enjoyed their story very much. It’s fast paced, snarky, bantering and so many secrets that could get in their way. There were a few times that I felt I’d had enough of the background with Chelsea’s past, but it didn’t really take away anything for me, simply that it’d been said a couple times, enough. That’s simply a personal thing on me totally.
If you’ve followed the series, you’re going to love Chelsea and Dagan’s romance – if this is your first rodeo with these crews then I’d suggest you start at the beginning. You’ll get a great set of stories and understand every single nuance that happens… in my opinion.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
