It’s a cozy, spicy, spooky season treat in this opposites-attract romance between a mystery writer who pretends to talk to ghosts and the one-night stand who might actually be haunted…
Kirsty Henson is an expert at one thing: faking it. A mystery writer with a hit series, she knows her success relies on pretending she can talk to ghosts. It’s all fun and games until a steamy casual encounter sends Jasper Cotton careening into her life.
Jasper is haunted…literally. His college roommate’s spirit is trapped in an old physics book—and has a weird obsession with Judge Judy. Desperate for a solution, Jasper turns to Kirsty for help. But when they investigate, neither can deny the supernatural or romantic sparks!
Between a ghost who won’t quit, Kirsty’s big secret, and a mystery tied to Jasper’s past, they’re in for more than otherworldly flirtation. With a little help from beyond, Kirsty and Jasper are about to discover the only thing stronger than life or death might just be love.
This is an adult 18+ story that contains language, possible violence, and/or sexual situations geared to an adult audience.
Title: Ghost of a Chance
Series: ~Standalone~

My Rating: 4 stars
Ghost of a Chance is a standalone romance featuring Kirsty, an author of paranormal cozy mysteries, and Jasper, who works on a talk show that Kirsty is appearing on, hoping for help with his particular paranormal problem… his deceased friend/cousin is haunting him through an old physics textbook. They might have met the night before at a concert as total strangers attracted to each other. He might be holding back an awful lot of details because remembering hurts. And, she might not be able to actually talk to ghosts since that was a one-time, desperate measures decision that turned into a publicity event. None of that matters, since there was a rather explosive paranormal event during the interview, and now the show’s hostess has set up a follow-up interview where Kirsty and Jasper will show their success (or failure) at getting the ghost to move on… with expected filmed proof.
I had fun with Ghost of a Chance by Katherine Garbera. There is an obvious attraction between Kirsty and Jasper, yet neither one is very forthcoming with their absolute truths, so they end up dancing around that pull between them. Their story becomes somewhat of a paranormal cozy mystery itself, as they search for clues, trying to discover the reasons behind the haunting of the textbook. I suspected the outcome, but it was an enjoyable journey getting to that point.
I’ve enjoyed Katherine Garbera’s work for many years now, and I’ve yet to read any story that I didn’t like. If you enjoy a well-written romance with touches of the paranormal, an angst-filled couple, with the feel of a paranormal cozy mystery, then you’d enjoy Ghost of a Chance by Katherine Garbera.
