He’s the best survival expert Search and Rescue has, which makes him the obvious choice to lead Ellie Price through deadly terrain to find her missing father. There’s just one problem-Ellie’s everything George isn’t. She’s a city girl, charming, gregarious, delicate, small. And when she looks up at him with those big, dark eyes, he swears he would tear the world apart to keep her safe.
With a killer on the loose, he may have no choice.
Ellie’s determined to find her father no matter the cost. But as she and her gorgeous mountain of a guide fight their way through an unforgiving wilderness, they find themselves in the cross-hairs of a dangerous man in search of revenge. And they are now his prey…

The Search and Rescue series has been that perfect reading storm for me. With a balance of danger and humor, sexiness and honest love, deep friendships and a common enemy it has delivered everything I could possibly need in a suspenseful romance series. And then Katie Ruggle gave us George and Ellie – I don’t know that I could possibly ask for more from this series even though I know there is more to come.
George is the embodiment of a mountain man. Huge, gruff, silent and just a touch dangerous. He has his history and he’s made his choices. The people he lets into his life are few but the best. He is a warrior you want on your side in a fight, and a friend to trust with your darkest secrets. He’s about to discover the one essential thing he’s been missing in his life – Ellie.
Ellie may be small and delicate, most people are standing next to George, but she’s also strong, stubborn and brave beyond her understanding. She’s searching for her missing father who has mental issues. They might not have been the closest father and daughter He might be truly crazy thinking people are out to kill him – but what if he’s right. Ellie will tackle the wilderness to find her father and what better man at her side than this mountain of a man with his grunts for conversation, knowledge of how to survive this trek … and maybe, the man she’s been searching for, the answer to her secret wishes for that perfect for her man. But first they have to survive.
Gone Too Deep is an amazing story in an addictive series. I honestly don’t know how to describe this couple without sounding totally sappy – but their combination of wisdom and innocence, experience and desire, strong and learning to be stronger is such a powerful combination. Readers will often think – this couple is perfect for each other – and while that is certainly true for George and Ellie, they also fill in the empty spaces in a way that is endearing and realistic.
The suspense of this series continues to build, and we get a bit more information and a few surprises. And the ending… well, you need to read this one for yourself.
If you enjoy strong characters, a romantic suspense love story that will defy convention and a really good, solid story then Gone Too Deep and the Search and Rescue series should be on your reading list. I would definitely recommend this one and encourage you to get caught up and ready for the rest of the series.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this novel. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this story.*
Available for the Kindle and other formats
Normally I don’t like to start a series in the middle, but since I really like the description (AND since the guy on the cover is pretty much a dead ringer for Eliot Spencer from the TNT series “Leverage”), I might just have to break my own rule. Yowza!
I know, right? *grin* Sometimes the cover model just fits the character SO well, and this gentleman is hot and exactly what I envision George to be like.
I obviously love the series and would definitely encourage you to check it out.
