How to Fake Date Her Billionaire is a standalone title and Clare Miles’s Harlequin Romance debut.  Ellie has one rule, born out of the pain of her parents’ divorce when she was a young child… never, ever fall in love.  She’s kept that rule intact, for the most part, into her adult life.  The one time she almost slipped, she did the only logical (to her) thing possible: she left before she could completely break that rule.  Nevermind the hurt and confusion she left behind.  She guarded her heart like a bank vault.  Now, years later, she’s about to come face to face with the one man who might topple that tower of hers, if she lets him.

There was a time when Nic thought he’d found the ultimate happiness with Ellie.  He understood the devastation she went through; his family had befriended her through it all.  Yet, he had thought, well, it doesn’t matter what he felt because Ellie ran at the first sign of them turning serious, of admitting that loving each other wasn’t a bad thing.  Now, she’s back in London, helping launch a foundation in his father’s honor, and thanks to the ever-circling paparazzi, their lives just got even more complicated.

I enjoyed Ellie and Nic’s romance very much.  Yes, her single-minded devotion to never falling in love was frustrating at times.  Yet I could see how that rule of hers once helped her and now restrains her, and only Ellie can break that bond.  She has to be brave enough to trust Nic, and perhaps that’s the hardest thing for her …to give her trust completely.  Of the two characters, I adored Nic.  He’s gone through a lot, put his heart out there on the line, and still, he loves Ellie.  Their romance is well-written, emotional, and engaging.  If there were moments when I wanted to have a stern conversation with Ellie, well, that shows me how deeply my involvement with this couple went.  If you enjoy a good romance, with stubborn people who eventually have their eyes opened to the reality of trusting in love, then you’d enjoy How to Fake Date Her Billionaire by Clare Miles.
