One for the Rogue brings the Studies in Scandal series to a close… I think. I so wanted Serena to find her own happiness after guiding these four strong, intelligent and stubborn young ladies through to their own happy endings. There is a door that is slightly ajar that may lead to… something. At least I’m hoping that it does for if anyone deserves a happy ever after ending it is our Miss Serena. But, time will tell on that one, still one can dream, right?
Gemma and Cameron certainly had a fiery relationship right from their first meeting. Of course, when the man rudely talks down to a genius, putting her intelligence to the test and basically calling her silly… well, yeah, the flames are going to start flaring up when they’re anywhere near each other. Unfortunately, Cam learned a bit too late that Gemma is indeed a genius in the field she loves. She can bring secrets forth from just about any earth related material. Just because women are not seen as much more than ornamental, doesn’t mean that Gemma cannot stand on her own two feet, do the work she loves and stand up to an oaf like Cameron. Why does the man have to be handsome as well as annoying?
As Cam softens his stance toward Gemma he soon discovers that she is in real danger and his protective instincts kick into high gear. Somehow he has to convince this exasperating woman that he is on her side in all things, especially in the falling in love part. With a mystery to solve, danger all around them Gemma and Cameron have their hands full just surviving. Watching their relationship move from adversaries to friends to loved ones was a pure joy to experience. I try not to have favorites within a series, but it’s hard when two people are so good together. If you love Historical Romance then One for the Rogue and the entire Studies in Scandal series should be on your reading list. You’ll find intriguing story lines, interesting and believable characters, steamy moments, danger and a love to swoon over. I had a blast, and it’s for stories like this one that I read all genre of Romance.
Now – if only Serena could find her happy ending, too. Please?
