One Last Christmas Wish is the fifth and final title in The McCarthy Sisters series.  We return to the Butterfly Lake Inn as the final Christmas celebration is about to begin, as the owners are ready to retire, and the inn is being sold.  Quinn, the youngest of the McCarthy sisters, is determined to make this final Christmas at the inn memorable for her family and their cherished guests, many being invited to this occasion for the final goodbye.  She has tons of lively events planned and hopes to hold off her own sadness at leaving the inn by jumping into all of the memories and the celebration at hand.  She’ll think about the future on the final day of the year. For now, she’s coping, remembering, and perhaps falling in love with a crush from her younger years who has accepted the invitation to celebrate with the family.

Declan had vacationed many times with his parents over the years at Butterfly Lake Inn.  He’s alone now, as his parents have passed, and initially had no intention of returning to the inn for this final blast off celebration.  Yet, circumstances, or maybe even fate, play a part in his plans changing and deciding to take time for a step back to happier days.  He doesn’t realize it yet, but that decision is about to change his life.

I enjoyed this final segment of The McCarthy Sisters series so much.  Quinn and Declan fit so well together, it was an emotional journey watching walls tumble and discovering a future for two people who so deserve their happy ever after.  I loved being able to catch up on all of the previous couples and their lives now.  There is a bit of an unexpected development and a charming epilogue to round out this lovely story.  If you love a well-written, emotional romance with the magic of Christmas and dreams coming true, then you’d love One Last Christmas Wish by Elle Douglas.
