I have yet to read anything by Kali Anthony that I didn’t love, or at the very least…enjoy. One Weekend in Amalfi falls into that “loved it” category. Liv and Lawson fit so perfectly together. Each has hidden scars from relationships that cost them a small piece of their soul. Neither is looking for anything remotely related to the forever that neither really believes in anymore. But stranger things have happened on the Amalfi coast… maybe even proving the past is wrong when the right person enters the picture.
I found Liv to be a strong woman who has faced challenges in the past that defined her, yet never defeated her. She’s coming off a bad breakup with a lying, cheating ex, and is trying to get her head together for this business conference in Amalfi, such a beautiful spot, even when experiencing it alone. What she never expected was to run into her ex’s client/friend in the restaurant where she was dining alone. Her ex had told her tales about this handsome “silver fox” doctor, and Liv tried to avoid his glance as she wanted no part of another player in her life. But what if he wasn’t?
I adored Lawson, and, of course, I fell in love with this dedicated, tender-hearted doctor… who makes sizzling attraction sound underestimated with the flames he and Liv are sparking off of each other. Go ahead, try to deny that this man is sex on a stick, I dare ya! *wink* Yet, Lawson comes with his own set of issues, some that still linger to this day.
Together, they are on fire… but it’s the emotional response that really drew me to them both. In each other, they’ll find something that they weren’t looking for, perhaps didn’t even realize they were missing. While this couple has a lot of sizzling, hot encounters, it was watching them fall in love… and find a way to make that work that captured my heart.
If you love a well-written, emotional, and let’s face it, hot romance, then you’d devour One Weekend in Amalfi.
