Pack Alpha by Crissy Smith

Posted March 5, 2017 by Marsha in Series / 4 Comments

As a non-shifter, Marissa Boyd knows she doesn’t belong in Pack territory. She braves a visit to attend her sister’s mating ceremony and meets the shifter who will change her entire life and beliefs.

Gage Wolf knows Marissa is hiding a pained past. As Alpha, he’s used to protecting his pack. Marissa challenges his authority like no one he’s ever met before. His desire to claim her is strong and his wolf won’t be denied. He’ll have her as his mate even if he has to fight to teach her the meaning of belonging to an Alpha. She’s worth every fight—even if it is Marissa’s feelings of not being good enough for him that he must battle.

Pack Alpha is a quick, intensely sexy story.  The characters were likable, the story… well, it was sexy.  I wish I could say it captured my attention enough to go pick up the 15 stories that make up the entire series.  To be frank, if it were on Kindle Unlimited (where the author still gets paid and I pay a flat monthly fee) then I might have.  But at the price now, then no, my curiosity will remain.  Going by the titles for the rest of the series, it seems that many of my unanswered questions from this first story might be answered over time.  I may pick up the next in line and see if my feelings change, it’s not fair to base an entire series on one story… so we shall see.

Please don’t misunderstand – it’s a good story, for what it is – and that is pure sex.  Now that’s my opinion – you need to check this out for yourself as you may feel quite differently.  Remember a review is only one person’s opinion.

At the end of the day, Pack Alpha was a good story that I enjoyed my time in – but I’m content with that.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

  1. I’m trying to remember, it’s been a while since I caught up on this series when I first read them. If I remember this series also ties into the Shifter Chronicles & then Shifter Chronicles into Bloodlines. I found Shifter Chronicles a really good series.

That may be, and I know from other reading that the first few stories of this series have been revised and lengthened from the original.

I will give it a second shot, it’s simply financial. That’s a lot of books, plus two more series with a lot of books – my budget will only stretch so far. But we shall see how time, money… and the next story in the series that I read work out for me in the long run.

      • Just finished this one, there’s definitely more extensive scenes. I looked at the old one and it ended with her playing in the forest with Gage and doesn’t have those 2 extra chapters. I remember now I got slightly bored of the series by the 12th (Which is where another series spins off). I’m more inclined to buy her Shifter Chronicles then this series.

Sounds like I’d have better luck, and more inclination to spend the money with the Shifter Chronicles. I’ll look over on Amazon and see if that one grabs my attention.
