Princess Bride with Benefits begins the Scandals at the Palace series with an unexpected romance between Gisele, a runaway princess who now runs a flower shop in France, and Emilien, a wealthy man who has built his own future but cannot forget or let go of his past.

I loved Gisele from the start.  She’s taken a stand, refused an arranged marriage, and has struck out on her own, admittedly hidden from her royal persona, but she’s perfectly happy with her life at the moment.  I enjoyed how Gisele rebuilt her life on her terms; it certainly wasn’t easy, but now she answers only to herself, not her country’s enforced duty.  Emilian took a bit longer to warm up to… his hidden agenda.  Yet, his delight in Gisele (which surprised him) and his utterly delightful protectiveness of her easily won me over.  Together, these two are on fire.  Watching them work their way to that happy-ever-after ending was pure enjoyment.

Their romance is well-written, engaging, emotional, and passionate.  Gisele deals with a personal issue, and the story addresses it with compassion.  I enjoyed Princess Bride with Benefits very much and look forward to continuing the series.  If that sounds like your kind of royal romance, then you’d enjoy this one.
