Not every hero…
Wears a uniform
Brooke Lawson refuses to let her troubled past stop her from making her mark in Flame, Texas. The close-knit community is exactly the fresh start she needs.
Great new job, caring new friends—her only problem is the series of mortifying scrapes she finds herself in.
Being frequently rescued by Michael Barnes, the small town’s handsomest firefighter, does have its upside. His warmth and humor set him apart from every man she’s ever met.
But when his large, ready-made family starts interfering, will she be the one to rescue him? And will their special spark continue to shine?
Titles in the Flame, Texas series include: Rescuing Her Firefighter ~ Her Texas Plus-One (June 2026) ~
This is a no-spice romance with either closed doors or fade-to-black scenes. Tension and kisses might be involved 🙂
Title: Rescuing Her Firefighter
Series: Flame, Texas #1
Author: Carol Ross
Published: December 30, 2025
Publisher: Harlequin Heartwarming
My Rating: 4.5 stars
I absolutely adored Rescuing Her Firefighter by Carol Ross! Brooke… she’s a country song, “if it weren’t for bad luck, she’d have no luck at all.” Yet, that often annoying luck of hers did bring Michael into her life, so it isn’t all bad, really. Brooke and her sister, Hailey, grew up in the foster system. They’ve both made life decisions, and Brooke is looking forward to a fresh, brand-new start here in Flame, Texas. Far away from her previous job, which, well, didn’t end well. She has a new job, new friends, and one sexy firefighter who seems to be constantly rescuing her from one mishap or another.
I want a clone of Michael in my life. His wicked sense of humor, his devotion to the town, and the only drawback might be his boisterous, constantly in his business family – they mean well (I think), but they certainly do have their opinions.
Watching Brooke and Michael navigate the town gossip, her constant mishaps, and a large family that not only embraces Brooke but often overwhelms as well, was such a satisfying, fun, emotional experience. I smiled throughout, and I cannot wait for Hailey’s story. If you enjoy a well-written, good, solid romance with laughter, family, and a love that shines true, then you’d love Rescuing Her Firefighter by Carol Ross. I wouldn’t hesitate one second to recommend this one.
