Cover Description:
One Accident. Two losses. Three years.
Veronica Russo chases storms, but runs from her past by staying firmly in the present. Unwilling to consider the possibility of a future, she’s checked out of life by using solitude and standoffishness as her armor and a sharp tongue and quick wit as her weapons.
Coleman Cade is a walking contradiction- just like his mismatched eyes. A rough and manly bull rider with a playful side. A ladies man with thousands of willing victims, but what he really wants is one woman. The right woman.
Will Roni be able to let go, move on, and find a way to fulfill her dream of having everything? Or will unsubstantiated choices and unresolved demons stand in the way of their happily ever after?
In order to overcome past tragedies and find true happiness- in order to have Everything- Roni needs to do one thing. Find the impossible.
Read on for my thoughts on Impossible. No true spoilers, promis.
Life can change in an instant. For bad or for good.
Roni knew that with a heart wrenching certainty that no one should have knowledge of… but she did, every moment of every day for the last three years she knew just how quickly everything changes. She was real good at running now. She threw herself into storm chasing, solo, in another way of running. Oh, sure, she loved what she did, the excitement and personal enjoyment of it was part of her personality now – but she acknowledged that she was on the run. She wouldn’t take her own life, but if a storm did what was the loss really?
Life was about to change once again in the form of a flat tire in a dusty, tiny town she was flying through on the way to chasing down yet another storm. A flat tire, a handsome young man and something in his glance that said “Yeah, there she is finally.” As Coleman Cade, Jr. (otherwise known as CJ) listened to Roni’s arguments, then went about changing her flat tire anyway he was convinced that this was the woman both he, and especially his dad needed in their lives – now, how to make that happen.
A few days later when Roni was once again flying through Huntsford chasing storms, she ran into CJ and his dad once again. This time it was obvious that father and son shared more than the same two differently colored eyes, handsomeness and a wicked sense of humor – they agreed on the lady. Yeah, she was perfect for their life – now came the hard part, convincing Roni that she indeed did want to be part of their family and that finally she could stop running.
But it would take a lot of love to allow Roni the room to let herself feel again – and she wasn’t sure she’d ever be ready for that. Even if this handsome rodeo champion and his adorable son could manage to get Roni to believe in Coleman’s love and being happy again – yet another of those “in an instant” moments was fast approaching. This one Roni was convinced she’d not survive.
Impossible is a fantastic ride. While it touches on a very sad subject, in reality it also shows what future is there as well – you simply need to be brave enough to reach out and grab it. It was a delight to watch Coleman wear Roni down. And, man, CJ is going to be a heartbreaker in a few years (sure glad the as yet undated sequel is intended to be CJ’s adult story)… hell, he already is at fifteen what’s he gonna be at 30? I can’t wait to find out.
While this is a tender, sexy love story it is also an acknowledgement of the fact that life goes on. And we should celebrate that it does. Really good story, I would recommend this one for readers who love cowboy romances or simply a really good, emotional love story. Pick this one up and indulge yourself.
*I received an e-ARC of Impossible from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
