Cover Description:
I didn’t amass an empire without taking risks, but I’m not a complete arse. So yes, when I offered to trade Allie Campbell three months as my mistress for her family home, it was a joke. Only thing is, she wasn’t laughing…and she bloody well took me up on it.
Well, all right then; I could play that game. I figured I’d take her on, we’d have some fun, and in three months, she’d walk away with her family intact and I could get back to what I do best: making money.
But I’d made one mistake along the way. I stupidly assumed that after having her, I could walk away. I was wrong. I don’t know how long this feeling-this consuming need-will last, but I’m not ready to let her go.
Not now. Not yet. Maybe not ever.
Read on for my thoughts on To Be His. No true spoilers, promise.
To Be His is a charming, sexy, steamy and totally entertaining companion novella to the first novel in this series, His Every Need. I have only one regret about this review – that I didn’t follow my instincts and read His Every Need first. This story is an enhanced version of the beginning of the relationship between Trevor and Allie, told entirely from Trevor’s viewpoint and in his voice. You don’t have to read the first novel to enjoy this short story – but, I believe the experience will be improved for the reader should you read this one second.
Trevor comes off as the totally uninvolved in the small people, mega billionaire with a large stick up his arse. Note that I said – comes off as – because underneath that hard exterior is a soft heart for the right people. Even early in Trevor’s commentary we begin to see chips in that hard expensive marble personality he puts out there for the public to see. He has a soft spot for his butler and his housekeeper, and while he will not see it nor admit it easily, he also has a soft spot for Allie, too.
This is a hot and steamy novella. While I would not classify it as erotica, there is certainly a lot of sexy dialogue between Allie and Trevor, and even more in Trevor’s head as he thinks about this lovely and frustrating lady. I certainly can’t call this a slow burn story cos you can see and feel the steam flowing up off of the pages – but it will take a bit of frustration for Trevor (and perhaps Allie) until they actually get physical.. but when they do, it is definitely sexy, hot, steamy and sensuous.
I loved being in Trevor’s head with only his voice telling this beginning from his completely arrogant, sexy point of view. If you have the chance to read His Every Need first, I would recommend to fall into this series from the actual beginning. To Be His is sexily delightful, but it would read as a recollection from Trevor’s mind so much more satisfyingly if you read them in order. Totally my opinion, but I believe the series experience would be enhanced should you read To Be His second.
I highly recommend this one for any reader who loves sexy, hot and steamy love stories… and if you would enjoy seeing the story unfold completely from the male’s point of view. This is a series that will captivate and delight readers of good love stories… just have a cool, soothing drink handy, you’re gonna need it. *wink*
*I received an e-ARC of To Be His from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
