One scorching, unforgettable kiss under the mistletoe is all that either have allowed. Addison is focused on her studies and becoming a lawyer herself and she plans to leave the dust of Whiskey River behind. Unless…
There’s A Way…
Addison has mastered ignoring her hotter than sin boss until one stormy day when a threatening tornado forces them to find shelter from the storm. Despite the fact that Addison is weeks from moving to another city, she finds herself breaking her own “no office romance” rule. She’s not meant to settle down—but how can she resist someone as persuasive and tempting as Ryder? She’s determined that he should be her going away present but will Ryder let her go that easily?
Read on for my thoughts on Where There’s A Will. No true spoilers, promise.
Where There’s A Will is a short, fast, sexy and entertaining prequel to the new series Whiskey River. Ryder Ford is an established attorney, one who will soon have to gather four brothers together for the reading of a will that he really doesn’t want to do. Addison Wells is Ryder’s secretary, a law student herself who will soon leave Whiskey River in the dust as she heads out of town for her own career as a lawyer.
The problem for both of them is their shared and ignored attraction to each other. One kiss was enough to convince each that they should stay far away from the other. One kiss that neither could forget and would very much like to repeat.
When storm sirens sound Ryder and Addison take shelter together – and then the fun really starts.
Since this story is short and a prequel, I don’t want to chance spoiling any of it for you. So I’ll stop here.
I love to start new series, and the first novel or novella in a new series usually sets the tone for the coming books. I often decided whether I’ll continue a series based on the first one, how well it pulls me in to wanting to know more. Sadly, not every first book does that. With Where There’s A Will, I (and you) got lucky because this is a story that draws you in enough to want to know more about this town and the people who live there.
I enjoyed Ryder and Addison’s story. They are a couple who belong together, but each one is fighting the attraction for their own reasons. I finished this novella in about an hour, so it doesn’t take up much time – but it does deliver a very good story and a strong start to the Whisky River series.
I recommend this one for those that love struggling lovers, a bit of a mystery and the fun of simply falling in love. Pick this one up, I believe you’ll find yourself a new series to follow.
*I received an e-ARC of Where There’s A Will from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
~What you, the reader, always must remember is this simple truth. Any review is just one person’s opinion. You might feel the same or totally different. The only way to know for certain if any novel is right for you – is for you to read it. This was my opinion of this particular book.~
