Billionaire David Gonzalez never forgot his humble beginnings… nor the curvy country-club queen who stole his heart and then tossed it aside ten years ago.

Former socialite Courtney Walsh wants to rebuild her life—and her bank account—after a bitter divorce. Helping with the renovation of Abbott Farm’s new produce stand provides a place to live and a decent paycheck.

Unfortunately, it also requires working with the wealthy entrepreneur she dated back when he was a golf caddy at her family’s country club. The spark is still there. But David, a cancer survivor, harbors secrets that pull him away from the woman he still adores.

Will their reversal of fortune bring them together or tear them apart?

Second Chance Springtime is the second title in the Home to Orchard Springs series, which will reunite David Gonzalez and Courtney Walsh… eventually.  First, they have to navigate a rather emotional past where years ago, Courtney broke David’s heart when she chose another man with more stability (it seemed) than the younger David, who was a foster teen, a caddy at the local country club, and perhaps, the love of Courtney’s life.  But back then, their plans for the future didn’t line up, and Courtney made a choice, one that she’s regretted for years.

Today, Courtney is divorced from her arrogant ex-husband and still reeling from the miscarriage that put the final nail in the coffin of their marriage.  Her circumstances have drastically changed, and perhaps what weighs on her most is her self-esteem from how she looks now, after the miscarriage, after the trauma of her ex-husband’s emotional abuse.  Working with David, as he returns home to help revitalize the Abbott farm with the help and visions of his foster siblings, is, well, challenging to say the least.  David has experienced loss as well, only his doesn’t scream for attention, but is buried deep in his heart.  While the attraction between them is still as fierce as ever, David knows he cannot give Courtney the one thing she desires more than anything… a large family.

I enjoyed Second Chance Springtime so much.  David and Courtney’s situations are heartbreaking, yet uplifting as well, when they begin to see beyond what they see as flaws in themselves.  No one is perfect; there are other ways to fulfill a lifetime dream, and as they draw closer, it’s time to put the past where it belongs, behind them, and embrace a future that might look different, yet is still as amazing as they could ever dream of.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
