Oops…
It started as a regular night for New York City restaurant hostess Ivy Sinclair, until a rowdy customer turned out to be world famous playboy Jack Everett. Thanks to the paparazzi, now the world thinks they’re a couple—which couldn’t be farther from the truth. But when a brooding, sexy businessman offers her a simply irresistible proposition…
Uh oh…
Just when cutthroat venture capitalist Daniel Gladwell thought he’d never close the deal with an Italian conglomerate, a simple mistake becomes the perfect opportunity. All he has to do is convince Ivy to pretend to be Jack’s fiancée while on a business trip to Italy to offset Jack’s bad boy reputation. As long as Daniel doesn’t sabotage the plan by claiming the tempting waitress for himself…
Oh yes!
It was supposed to be a business only arrangement. But in the magic of the Tuscan countryside, neither Ivy nor Daniel can fight the attraction building between them. In the world’s most romantic setting, the line between business and pleasure is one that begs to be crossed…
Read on for my thoughts on The Accidental Engagement. No true spoilers, promise.
What an absolutely delightful romantic romp.
The kiss that changed everything in Ivy’s life. The kiss that was plastered across tabloids and endangered a business deal years in the making. And the handsome, hot and far too serious man who had the solution to that particular problem. A fake engagement. Temporary fix – just until the deal was done and then Jack and Ivy could have a fight, end their engagement and life moves on happily for everyone involved.
Except for the fact that Daniel, the hot serious perpetrator of this plot finds himself attracted to Ivy. When there is nothing between Jack and Ivy except a fond friendship, they each take this fake engagement as a momentary thing that gave Ivy a new friend’s shoulder to lean on and Jack some sense of just how much he needed to grow up. Oh, he’d never lose that playful attitude of his, thank goodness – but everyone grows up one day.
Ivy and Daniel’s attraction could topple this elaborate ploy if they aren’t careful. And while Daniel does some backtracking from Ivy, getting the right man to love her is Ivy’s goal… and whether Daniel will admit it or not, the man for Ivy is Daniel.
The Accidental Engagement is such a lighthearted, simply fun read. I could easily picture this as a romantic comedy movie. Man kisses woman. Another man blackmails the woman into doing what he wants. Woman falls in love with the blackmailer and they live happily every after *wink* Why not? Sounds fun and perfect to me. Seriously though – this story is just what you’ll need for a feel good reading moment. I would definitely recommend this for anyone who loves to.. well, fall in love. Indulge yourself and enjoy.
*I received an e-ARC of The Accidental Engagement from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
