The Cowboy’s Convenient Wife is a standalone Historical Romance set in the Victorian period. Lady Ambrin was left in charge of the home she shared with her brother, a Baron, while he headed off on an American adventure. Funds are quickly drying up, and if Grant doesn’t return home soon, well, she’s frantic at what will happen.
What she never expected was for a handsome American cowboy to show up on her doorstep with a young girl in tow, explaining that her brother had passed away, leaving Boone as heir to everything, as well as guardian to Grant’s daughter, Marigold.
This stranger thinks he can just step in and sell her home out from under her without a thought, but that’s not going to happen. Especially when she’s just met her niece, the only part of her brother that still exists. Boone is not a bad guy; he’s faced down worse things in his lifetime, including the loss of his ranch. Yet Ambrin pulls at him; she didn’t ask for this change in her circumstances, and it’s obvious she already loves Marigold. There is one possible solution that would benefit them both… a marriage of convenience. But with that underlying spark of attraction between them, it’s going to be an interesting situation.
I enjoyed The Cowboy’s Convenient Wife by Carol Arens. Both Ambrin and Boone tugged at my emotions throughout. In a situation that neither asked for, marriage is a possibility. Whether it remains in name only is up to their hearts and, perhaps, their stubborn natures. If you love a slow-burn romance with likable characters who you’ll be cheering on to find their forever love, then this story is perfect for you.
