He’s been a bad, bad rake—and it takes a governess to teach him a lesson
The accidental governess.
After her livelihood slips through her fingers, Alexandra Mountbatten takes on an impossible post: transforming a pair of wild orphans into proper young ladies. However, these girls don’t need discipline. They need a loving home. Try telling that to their guardian, Chase Reynaud: duke’s heir in the streets and devil in the sheets. The ladies of London have tried—and failed—to make him settle down. Somehow, Alexandra must reach his heart… without risking her own.
The infamous rake.
Like any self-respecting libertine, Chase lives by one rule: no attachments. When a stubborn little governess tries to reform him, he decides to give her an education—in pleasure. That should prove he can’t be tamed. But Alexandra is more than he bargained for: clever, perceptive, passionate. She refuses to see him as a lost cause. Soon the walls around Chase’s heart are crumbling… and he’s in danger of falling, hard.

Title: The Governess Game
Series: Girl Meets Duke #2
Author: Tessa Dare
Genre: Historical Romance
Published: August 28, 2018
Publisher: Avon Books
My Rating: 4.5 stars
I adored THE GOVERNESS GAME, it’s full of banter, unapologetic sexual bragging (which may or may not be true), utterly charming yet quirky young ladies who tie Chase around their little finger with ease, and a couple that may not come together the conventional way but certainly belong together for all of the other important reasons mostly because they fit, they blend their broken pieces and make a whole couple.
Chase and Alex mix banter with innuendo so perfectly that I spent a great deal of their story indulging in laughter. I loved how Alex would call Chase out on his usage of certain words. One rake who believes in his own reputation and thinks there is no one for him to make marriage worth the work will discover that one governess with a softly spoken voice and a bold attitude can change his mind. I was so glad to be able to catch up with Emma and Ash from the first story. These are the connections that a series gives to me, that feeling of their story is done but we continue to see a couple grow even more through another couple’s romance. I had fun with THE GOVERNESS GAME and if you love Tessa Dare’s work, enjoy laughter and sizzling moments in your romance then you’re in for a treat with this second story in the Girl Meets Duke series.
It’s good to have friends, especially book-loving friends. I had picked up the third story in this series thinking I had the two earlier ones on a shelf – turns out that wasn’t clear remembering on my part. So I first turned to my Historical Romance loving friend to see if I could borrow her copies if she had them. So I was able to come to the Girl Meets Duke series a bit late, but at least reading the series in order thanks to a book-loving friend. *grin* (and because she’s not a re-reader, I now own the entire series, so far)
I own a paperback copy of The Governess Game.
