I promised myself I would never fall for Luke Callahan twice.  The first time, I was eighteen.

The Hero Who Came Home kicks off The Hearts of Willow Ridge series with an intense, emotional reunion between a couple who once meant everything to each other, two people who planned to leave town and start their future together right after high school.  Only, that didn’t happen when Luke left in the dead of night with no explanation, destroying Emma’s dreams.

Now he’s returned home.  Handsome as ever, determined to fix what went wrong if he can.  Yet Emma won’t hand him her heart so easily this time.  Something outside their relationship destroyed them once, and now they have to find out who that was and why the developer’s so determined to have the building where Emma’s bakery sits… Emma has questions, and until she has answers, she’s not committing to anything Luke is offering.

I really enjoyed Emma and Luke’s story.  Lexi B. Hart is a new-to-me author, and I like her “voice”, her way of spinning a romance with touches of mystery and suspense.  The Hero Who Came Home is well-written, emotional, realistic, and has a touch of mystery that hits just right.  I was easily drawn into their story and fully envested in figuring out who set out to destroy them twelve years ago… and why.  If that sounds like your kind of Romance, then you’d enjoy this one.
