The Wedding Con is the second title in the Love is in the Air series, this time bringing us Naomi and Boone’s romance.  Their story “could” be read as a standalone (if this is where you’re starting the series).  Yet I believe you’d benefit from reading the first story in the series as well, since it establishes a lot of what is continuing to matter in Naomi’s story.

Boone is the son of a con man; his father has recently been released from prison.  While for a time, Boone followed in his father’s footsteps, that’s firmly in his past as he’s now concentrating on living a good, truthful life.  Unfortunately, he’s attracted to a woman who has, for years, eyed him with suspicion, rarely giving him the benefit of a doubt in any manner.  On the other hand, Naomi’s mother and sisters trust him completely.  When he offers Naomi his help in return for the chance to become a rock climbing instructor for the family’s business, they’ll make a deal full of possibilities… both good and bad.

Naomi has great ideas, in her opinion, for improvements and additions to their hot air balloon business, but her older sister keeps shutting those ideas down.  When Boone offers her his support for her ideas in return for her help, well, a very shaky teamwork situation is set in motion.  Naomi has never fully trusted Boone, unlike her family, who loves the man to pieces.  No, she’s seen how a con artist had destroyed her deceased father’s life, his business, and that’s what she sees when she interacts with Boone.  She might reluctantly admit to being attracted to the man… but trust him?  No way.

I enjoyed The Wedding Con by Janine Amesta.  It’s well-written, emotional, and grabbed my attention and didn’t let go until the final page. Trust isn’t the easiest thing to give or to expect, especially when circumstances pile up against you.  Naomi and Boone had some rocky roads to navigate before that happily ever after ending, but the journey was so worth it.
