Cover Description:
Two strangers are swept into a sizzling, spellbinding world of daring deception and unexpected passion. . .
Marcus Reese, Duke of Essex, has spent most of his life pulling his twin brother out of trouble. A thank you would suffice; instead, his resentful sibling forges his name to a marriage license and presents him with an unwanted wife. She’s a vicar’s widow with a mind of her own, and the first person in Marcus’s well-ordered life to make him feel. . .completely out of control.
Dire straits have led Hannah to the altar with a gentleman she hardly knows. Played for a fool, she’s embarrassed, furious, and worse, married to an equally outraged, exasperating man who unleashes all manner of emotions in her–not to mention unwanted desire. Reluctantly, Hannah agrees to play the wife until he can sort out the mess. But the undeniably attractive Duke unsettles her well-guarded heart–making her want to do so much more than “act” the role of blissful bride.
Read on for my thoughts on What A Gentleman Wants. No true spoilers, promise.
Be aware that this is a reprint of a title that was originally published in 2006.
Some stories stand the test of time very well and I have to say that What A Gentleman Wants is one of those stories. I was just as captivated by David’s trickery and Marcus once again taking care of what his twin had left in his wake yesterday as I was several years ago when I first read this tale.
Hannah’s husband has died, leaving her and their daughter in a difficult situation. As the vicar’s widow, it is necessary for Hannah to move on from the home they had – but how is she to do that without funds. Along comes David Reese, injured in a racing accident, this charmer has the perfect solution for them both – a marriage of convenience…sort of. What Hannah doesn’t know is that David has a twin, Marcus and these two have such a love/resent relationship. David cannot bring himself to go through with the marriage – but he does sign Marcus’ name to the paperwork once again leaving his twin brother to straighten out his situations.
What A Gentleman Wants is the charming tale of two people who find themselves married without having ever met. While it may seem to be one of David’s infamous pranks again, this time the outcome has a chance for his twin’s happiness at the ending. Hannah and Marcus set off all sorts of sparks between them, and an agreement to continue this unusual marriage may just deliver their hearts’ desire – if they don’t mess it up that is. With an intriguing cast of secondary characters and a bit of mystery going on – this is a fun, charming story that does indeed stand the test of time. Indulge yourself and enjoy.
