Step into a winter wonderland and fall in love in the snow this Christmas…
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…
A few weeks before Christmas and a sudden blanketing of snow has closed the roads and brought public transport grinding to a halt, stranding Izzy miles from home and in desperate need of rescuing.
That doesn’t mean she’s looking to bump into Rob and spend a cosy weekend holed up in his swanky flat watching London become a winter wonderland! Because Izzy and Rob have history…
Six months ago, they were standing in the vestry of a beautiful country church, while best man Rob delivered the news that every bride dreads on their big day.
But at the time of year when anything is possible, can Rob and Izzy let go of the past and let Christmas work its magic? Or will this be one holiday wish that Izzy lets walk right out of her life.
Read on for my thoughts on Winter’s Fairytale. No true spoilers, promise.
Winter’s Fairytale is such a delightful romance. Rob and Izzy have a bit of history – well, maybe more than a bit. She did after all punch him breaking his nose when on the day of her wedding as the best man he had to deliver the news that the groom was not going to show up. So yeah, maybe no longer best of friends. While she was completely embarrassed by her actions, Rob was also a reminder of the worst day of her life. Over time Rob had tried to get in touch with Izzy to check up on her, but she had refused to face him again. What Izzy never realized was that Rob cared about her and dropped his friend, the former groom the moment he hurt Izzy by dumping her at the alter. He knew that she didn’t feel romantically towards him, but he at least wanted her friendship back.
This takes us to the weeks before Christmas at Izzy’s dress shop where Rob finally arrives in person to talk. Snow is beginning to fall, weather predictions are for a horrid snowstorm to hit overnight. Eventually Rob convinces Izzy to come with him to his apartment to try to find alternative transportation to her home. When it becomes obvious that they are snowed in she reluctantly stays with him. Over the course of the snowstorm, Izzy and Rob actually begin to talk to each other and begin to mend their friendship. Rob is trying to make the best of the situation, it hurts on some levels to have Izzy so close, but she is back in his life and he’ll take that.
Winter’s Fairytale is such a layered story. There is their history, then the punch. The rescue during the snowstorm and then a tentative reforming of their friendship. Soon Rob will turn to Izzy to help out his sister in a needs a miracle type of situation. That help leads to Izzy heading to Rob’s family home over Christmas and the magic of the season begins its work. Of course, there are complications but the attraction is strong between them and Izzy is holding on to hope for their future.
This was indeed a fairytale story with a happily ever after. If you enjoy romance with twists and turns along the way, if you believe in second chances and if you simply love a good romance – then you would love Winter’s Fairytale. Add this one to your Christmas reading list, it’s one that you will read again next year and beyond.
*I received an e-ARC of Winter’s Fairytale from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
