D is for Daisy is the fourth title in the Amish ABCs series, this time featuring Daisy Lapp and Kyle Burkholder… perhaps an unlikely couple, but Kyle isn’t giving up on Daisy all that easily.  In some ways, he is just as stubborn as she is, and that makes for a delightful romance as we watch stubborn meet stubborn-er, and in the end, they each win.

First of all, I adored Ruthie and Mervin Miller, the couple whose early retirement led to the purchase of the farm that Daisy had always dreamed of one day owning and was saving up to buy.  Yet, the Millers’ decision to become “Amish Gentlemen Farmers” directly led to Kyle also being at the farm to teach them farming ways and to keep an eye on them for his friend (their son) back in Kentucky.  So, on the one hand, we have Daisy’s extreme disappointment at losing the farm (so to speak), but on the other hand, she would never have met Kyle if not for that hiccup on her road to happiness.  “Mysterious ways”, indeed.

I had such fun with D is for Daisy.  It’s well-written and emotional, with laughter and frustration scattered throughout.  Both Daisy and Kyle have a few lessons to learn about themselves and about the influence of others, in not-so-good ways.  The attraction is sharp between them, but Daisy’s jealousy about the farm and the meddling of a definite mean girl make that journey to a happy ending take a bit longer… but that was a huge part of the enjoyment of this story.  Although perhaps my favorite character isn’t human… keep an eye out for Velvet the cow.  Definitely the source of comfort and a few chuckles.  I’d not hesitate to recommend this story or the entire series to any reader who loves Sweet Romance, Amish Romance, or simply a well-constructed romance to bring a smile to your face.  If that sounds like your kind of romance, then you’d love Daisy and Kyle’s romance and Ruthie and Mervin’s adventure in “Gentlemen Farming”.
